Any blessings?

Mrs. Spring, on December 19, 2020 at 8:16 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 33
Many posts on here are filled with sadness and disappointments about weddings not being a "dream wedding" because of the COVID pandemic.

Did any of you have any positive things happen to you, from the pandemic, related to your wedding or wedding planning? If so, what were they?

It's difficult for me to relate because I never had a dream wedding. I was judged harshly and told that what fulfilled me (i.e. courthouse wedding/signing marriage license) should not and that it wasn't as important as big, traditional weddings 😥

I definitely know the feeling of disappointment and having something taken away when I was looking soooo forward to it.

I have to postpone to 2022, so I have to wait another 1.5 years plus 23 years of dreaming about dream wedding. Good things? We didn’t get covid, our venue and flights are reschedule-able until 2022 with no charge, and dh is showering me with gifts. Jewelry, kitchen things, branded bags, and my adult daughter just told me today that she and her bf is going to cook a full meal for this Christmas 😍

Well, everyone is definitely different. Having no dream wedding might be easier for you to plan your wedding. For example, my dream job is being a wife, a housewife, a stay home mom. A lot of my friends looked down on me, but to me this is an honorable position.

Postponing due to the pandemic ended up being the best thing for my fiance and I! We have a lot more time to finalize smaller details, switch out/add a few vendors that we didn't have in our budget before, and just enjoy the engagement period for a little longer. Plus, we (hopefully) won't have the risk of COVID at our wedding, and we can celebrate with everyone on our new date in 2022 without having to downsize our guest list (which was important to us). It was a bummer initially to postpone, but now, we're both super glad we did.

Oh no! That is unfortunate. I've experienced the opposite, where people judged me for wanting to work. I was even told that bc I went to a daycare facility with cameras from 9 to 3 for five days a week, from age 1 to 5, that my parents didn't raise me.

Totally agree with you there! Same here on the dream job being a wife, and stay at home mom .. a lot of my friends look down on that too

Yup. Having a photography degree, and working here and there just for extra money for me to spend on things I like and don’t want dh to pay for it. But I have 22, 20, and 8 years old. I enjoyed my pregnancy fully, nursed them 1-3.5 years long, walked/drove them to school, watch their every single show at school, volunteered at school, I know all their besties, share each other secrets, the mom-kids bond is special to me! Not to mention how much work it has to be done at home. Laundry, backyard, frontyard, mopping, oh and we also have an English Bulldog as our fur baby. It’s an unpaid 24 hrs job, which tons of people don’t always respect. I am a happy housewife for now 😊.

The pandemic strengthened our bond. Our wedding totally changed and it was hard to take in but there are no regrets. It was really eye opening and now I feel like we are closer than ever.

I’ve often said that in the COVID storm, there are some rainbows. I had originally planned a 250 person wedding in New Orleans in January. However, when COVID hit, we had to scrap those plans. Instead, we are having a 25 person wedding in Florida (my home state) next month. I would have never considered a smaller wedding, but COVID forced my hand ... and I’m glad it did. I’m still having a destination wedding at a resort, but now my venue is on the beach ... and I’ve been able to focus on details and splurge on things I otherwise would not have been able to ... and my wallet is much happier. Lol! My Plan B wedding is definitely my rainbow in the COVID storm.

No, but now they all are online schooling due to covid. They love going to school physically. Meeting other kids/friends.

If it hadn’t been for COVID, we would not have gotten the most incredible adventure photos. Our photographers would have captured beautiful images regardless, but being able to go to Yosemite really allowed them to use their creativity. Platinum lining to having to change our wedding plans multiple times.

My FH and I are still in the middle of wedding planning but we have had a couple blessings happen so far. The bridal fair in my are was free due to covid this year, so I went and ended up winning a giveaway for a photography package! Also, our church has decided to heavily discount the price for our day due to the current circumstances.
