Any bad knee brides?

Emily, on July 27, 2012 at 3:36 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 26

Any other ladies out there with a messed up.knee? I hurt mine doing a toe touch(cheer jump) about over a year ago and its miserrrable! It'll feel fine for awhile and then just bam hurt out of nowhere. And of course it starts hurting me and I forgot to bring my brace to Oregon so dad had to go buy one! Yayyy and I get to go walk a lot tommorow! But at least I'm getting to see big cats, that's worth all the pain in the world!

I have a bad knee but the more I take care of myself (exercise, eat right) the less it bothers me, so it gets aggravated because of my weight but it has bothered me since I was little. My hip also irritates me but that is from bad posture. Same leg also has issues with the ankle because in high school I tore a tendon, again it gets better when I treat myself better.

What did you do to your knee and what have you done to try and heal it?

I have a sprained ligament. I went to do a toe touch and landed wrong. I just try to take it easy and when it bothers me I usually rub it for a little bit and ice it. It hasnt bothered me in quite awhile until I came to Oregon, the day I was flying here it hurt a little and once I landed in Oregon and we were waiting for my luggage the pain was just horrible. Then it was fine again until yesterday so hopefully the brace my dad got me will help

Oh man, knee pain is the worst. Hope the brace helps. My knees get stiff and swollen when I fly, I wonder if you just had a little fluid built up in there from the flight and that's why it hurt so bad at the luggage carousel?

I have more foot issues than knee, my ortho says to pop ibuprofen before exercise or anything that might be stressful to help minimize the inflammation before it starts... maybe that would help if you don't have something stronger?

Gaaah yes! But I think my bad kees are related to my bad ankle which is getting operated on in a week...hopefully it helps with the knees as well! Definitely wear your brace and anti inflammatories will help out a lot as well

Yes! I have misaligned knee caps (aka lots of pain). I got surgery on both of my knees in high school but it was just a temporary fix....I have good days and bad days, but unfortunately since I've been used to the pain my whole life I tend to just ignore it. I do find though that the more I exercise (and it ALWAYS hurts after running) and then ice/take ibuprofen, it helps! Knee braces are also my best friend while running

Not I, but my FH does. He tore his ACL a month before our wedding last year. That is why we had to postpone it :/

I tore my ACL when I was 17 and have had a few surgeries. I also tore my miniscus in the same knee when I was 23 and had surgery for that too. My scars make me feel pretty bad ass haha.

I was told when they were fixing my miniscus that my ACL was slightly torn, but they didn't fix it, so I'm pretty paranoid of it going out on me. I do lots of yoga which helps and I stay away from anything that may tweak it.

    No fun Smiley sad

My now the ACL should have fixed itself MK R. But scar tissue always makes an area weak and makes it easier to tear again. So the yoga is really good. If you want cardio I suggest an elliptical, it's low impact on the knees, but NO RUNNING!

I just had my second knee surgery in May (and have had one shoulder done too). I'm pretty tall (6 ft) and orthopedists just keep telling me that I have loose joints so over time, they rub the cartilage until it frays. It's very very frustrating bc I come from a competitive athletics background and am now quite limited in what I can do. I focus on bike riding (low impact), Pilates and workouts to strengthen the muscles that keep my joints properly in line. But the flare ups still super suck!!

I've had many knee injuries over the years - being a goalie in hockey takes a toll on the joints!! I've torn ligaments and cartilage many times and have been to physiotherapy more times than I can count. I had surgery on my right knee last May for a torn meniscus (which is the most painful thing I've ever had happen to me!) and it's been fine ever since. My left knee still gets achy, but I just deal with it. I'm back to playing baseball this summer and will be playing hockey again in the winter. I can't wait!!

I suffered a dislocated knee when I was two (older brothers and porches should not be mixed) and have had problems with my knee since then. I also have arthritis in both my feet from stress fractures from ballet. When the barometric pressure changes, I have to take pain killers and use lots of ice and heat to keep moving. But that is the trick my doctor told me-keep moving. the feet is also why I can't wear more than a 1 inch heel anymore.

I have bad knees, but I was just born with them. My right kneecap subluxes (it falls off) if I bend it too much. I had to stop cheering my senior year because of it even though I worked around it for years. My left one is on its way there, but not yet. They wanted to do surgery on it over a decade ago, but my cousin has had the same surgery on both knees a total of 8 times because it didn't fix it. No thanks, I'll just continue to work around it.

@Kris yeah I think that's what it was cause it always seems to really bother me when I fly!

Eek lots of ACL injuries, never hurt my ACL but one of my friends tore his twice in football and then my other friend tore hers doing a standing back tuck. I definatlly don't ever wanna go through that lol

I have bad knees! I destroyed them while doing martial arts full time. EEK.

Sometimes my right knee wakes me up at night.

    Emily,

The reason it's bothering you is the weather. Cooler temperatures seem to irritate it.

Yeah cool always bothers me. It didn't feel to bad today. I had to sit down a couple times at the big cat place but I had my brace so it wasn't horrible. I was to mesmerized by the cats to notice lol

My family has bad knees in general. They hurt and give out at times you can just be walking and down you go. My sister and I were cheerleaders and she has had 7 knee surgeries now because she had a girl on her shoulders and no one was spotting they girl pretended to fall so my sister went to catch her and then they both lost their balance. My sister landed one way on her knee and the girl that was the same weight as my sister landed on the other side of her knee. My back is all screwed up from cheerleading.
