Annoyed by no rsvp response

Emma, on September 2, 2020 at 6:57 AM Posted in Planning 0 36
Hello all!
I officially HATE rsvps with a passion. Not the rsvp themselves but the lack of response to them! Our rsvp date was aug 31st, yesterday September 1st I sent out messages saying that if I didn’t hear from them by September 3rd, they’d be marked as a decline. I still have 11 house olds I haven’t heard from! I hate that I can see that they read my message, yet they still didn’t reply?!? Like seriously!
On top of that FH added 2 more people to the guest list, after the rsvp date😑 granted it was a military friend who we were sure if they’d be back or not, they apparently got back (out of quarantine) yesterday so there’s that

OMG Yes. I Dont Understand Why People Cant Just RSVP. It Doesnt Take Long At All. I Still Have 2 Weeks Until Our Deadline But Ive Had People Go On Our Wedding Website But Still Not RSVP. Its Frustrating.

Our RSVPs were due back on the 31st as well, we're still missing 15 responses. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and assuming (right now) that the USPS is running behind (I have had recent issues so believe this is an honest possibility). I don't have to have my final numbers in until a month prior. So on that note, I built a 1-week cushion in, especially in the light of our new "covid" world. New guidelines will likely be shared this week from most states and I'm sure that could be affecting some decisions.

If you're really wanting answers, then I'd call them personally versus sending an impersonal message.

Try calling them? If they are to RSVP through the mail maybe there is a delay as many things have been taking longer. When if your final count due? If they don't RSVP by that time then I honestly wouldn't include them and let them know. I would first try to reach out one more time through call and then that would be it for me.

It’s less wanting and more needing their answers. We have a meeting with our baker on the 5th, and one vendor that needs final number and final payment by the 7th. Our caterer needs the minimum number on 10th as well and the final number on the 28th (so the Monday before).
I Honestly wish we didn’t have to know so early but at the same time I wish people would just respond with something, anything 😂

Our final count and payment for our earliest vendor is the 7th. I will probably call everyone that hasn’t responded after I get off work tomorrow. I just wish people that have read the message would respond with anything at all

I completely understand, its soooo annoying. Especially when you know they've viewed the message. I hope that everyone will get their stuff together and RSVP with you soon. I'm sure you have other things that you can be doing instead of tracking people down

It's definitely annoying. If you don't already, sign up for USPS "informed delivery" - it will let you know what letters you are getting on that day. That's been super helpful for us.

Exactly! Thankfully one more household responded so that bring the count down to 10. I’ll give it till tomorrow after work till I start calling people, and if they don’t answer, they can’t come😂

And that's how it should be! You've given them enough time to respond and you really need those numbers for vendors. If they don't respond and get cut off the list its no ones fault but their own lol

Ughhh I am so worried about this happening to me! Because it's "destination" to most of our guests and I think a lot of people will just forget or assume we'd know~ they can't make it. 😬
My suggestion for anybody who's still in the collecting address stage is to use Zola's wedding guest form that includes email. Then later right before the RSVP date I can send a mass email to everyone who hasn't responded. It's easier and faster for me, also feels less personal like "omg YOU forgot!!" rather it's to an entire group who haven't RSVP-ed.
Sorry OP, I know this won't help you now. But I hope you get some more responses and you forget the rest.

Yes I completely agree! One of my FH's friends messaged him yesterday and told him he and his wife would be able to make it to the wedding. Mind you the RSVP date was I think 2 or so weeks ago. When we asked him after the RSVP date, he told us he didn't think they would be able to make it. Now 10 days before the wedding they can. He is lucky he told us when he did because we literally met with the venue last night to give our final numbers.

Oh I was really pissed off! But I couldn't say oh we turned the numbers in because that was what we were doing last night! Then the guy was going to send us his RSVP in the mail too, if he could find it. Like really!

Pre covid I get it. But with Covid sorry with the way things change daily. I didnt give the bride a notice to the wedding I went to in July till a week notice and that was totally fine for her because of the situation.

I responded going but she understood and kept everyone posted of FB to atleast give a week notice

Covid doesn’t change the fact that I need a head count now not later. If I had a choice my vendors wouldn’t need final count till 2 weeks before. I have made it very clear to everyone that if they aren’t comfortable coming, or aren’t sure if they’d be comfortable coming then to say no and join us via the live stream we’ll have set up if they’d like. We also put a covid insert in our invites explaining this and we keep our website updated every monday

Our final headcount date is September 11th so I made the due date September 4th so we had that cushion time to get people to answer or if they sent it in the mail it would get here in time. We have 28 more households to go. We're getting 6 in the mail today(USPS INFORMED DELIVERY FOR THE WIN) so hopefully they are all yes. We just got one of my aunt's in on Monday and she was like omg I had your invitation on display I almost forgot to send the response in. Too funny. I've realized people tend to forget or just don't wanna send in the card and rather just tell you.
