ETA: I facetimed my sisters, mom and best friends immediately after. We saw FH's family that day (Christmas) so they all got info in person. Why are you waiting? You should probably have made sure your wedding date 7 months away worked for them since it's his family

Honestly, we just called both our parents, but he had already talked to both sets of parents, so they knew.

Yeah, I just called people close to me the night it happened. No big to-do in person. If in person, I'd just do what Mrs Sullivan To Be said.

We called our parents and sent photos of us snuggled together and me showing off the ring. Both of us were wine drunk, so we probably should have waited until the morning, in hindsight...

If it's a distance issue - you could video chat.

We were in Europe, I called my dad that afternoon and we facetimed his parents that night. I texted some close family/friends that day as well.

I can't imagine being engaged for more than a day without telling my family. Have you seen/talked to them since you got engaged? What's the hold up?

Our parents knew before we got engaged (well, except FIL because he's not in the picture). We called our parents within half an hour of it actually happening. Our parents told the extended family.

How old are you? Just call or text them. This is not a big deal.

We called/texted our families. My sister's a wedding planner, so I called acting like a potential client. But other than that I sent pictures of the ring saying "Future Mrs.!" And H just called his family to say "she said yes!"

His whole family was there to take pictures and he'd asked both my parents for the blessing a few weeks prior. They were out of town with some extended family and they all knew the time he had it planned for and were waiting by the phone

We called parents right after, as well as our closest friends. I wanted them to hear it from us before posting it on social media.

We have told my family and he had already told his family that it was going to happen soon but he wanted to tell them in person. We just haven't seen them since it happened. We are going there this weekend so we planned on telling them then.

Mrs Sullivan to be...FH already spoke with them about proposing and we had already discussed when we would ideally want to get married...his mom is a former wedding planner so as soon as she heard it was a possibility she blew up my phone with questions on potential wedding plans.

We waited to tell people since we were going on vacation with my family (aunts/uncles/cousins) in a week so obviously we told his mom/dad/sister and my parents but didn't say anything to anyone until we got to the vacation house where as people showed up they saw our puppy and when they asked why we got her, I showed them my ring. I did have a few family members who wouldn't make the vacation so I sent them a picture of the ring and puppy and sent it to my closest friends as well since I didn't want them finding out from other people.

First of all, congrats on the engagement!!, we told my parents a week after mom's birthday during dinner (never been more nervous in my life), and his dad and sisters the next day while dinning with them. That one was SO funny because he went to bring more soda from the fridge and suddenly winked at me and said "so... we want to let you know that we're getting married next November", followed by some chuckles from his dad (we've always joked about it with them, and said things like 'oh, yeah, we'll get married on February 30th') when suddenly one of her sisters looked at me and saw me smiling, I guess that when she realized he was serious and started jumping up and down and screaming... followed by his dad hugging us and saying congrats from him and FH's mom (who died a couple of years ago)

For my immediate family we planned to do it at Christmas dinner since we all get together then, that morning a close cousin called to tell me she is pregnant and planned to tell the fam that night also but wanted me ro be the first to know (I had to tell her and we planned how we'll do it that night), fast forward to dinner time, another cousin (pregnant one's sister) who came home from England was telling us she and former classmates were planning on taking a trip to the beach this November for their 20th anniversary and pregnant cousin; FH and I jumped/yelled at her "AFTER THE 15th!!" (The 3 of us talking about the wedding), and we had no choice but to announce it there even though some relatives hadn't arrived yet... it was definitely funny because my aunt and cousin (pregnant one's mom and sister) looked at us with their eyes wide open like already knowing what was going on and then jokingly gave us a hard time because we told her first and she didn't tell them and then to me because I knew about the pregnancy also and didn't tell them either

I faced time my daughter and son. Called the parents and his brother.

We've called everyone! Everyone knew besides me anyways. It all will be okay.

I posted to FB an hour after it happened.. I wanted the whole world to know lmfao (my whole family mostly knew anyway.. he asked my father and mother if he could marry me then they told people) I was lucky I didn't find out lol

I called my parents, my sister, and my best friend shortly after it happened. FH sent a picture to his siblings and parents after it happened. Then I posted it on Facebook to everyone else.
