Anniversary/not-so-trash-the-dress shoot?

kaylarae, on July 16, 2015 at 10:42 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 9

How many ladies are doing a trash the dress shoot? Are you actually trashing it (paint, mud, water...) or are you just doing a second shoot in the dress that's a little more relaxed and you're ok if it gets a little dirty? How long after your wedding are you/did you have the photoshoot done?

I ask because DH and I will be in my hometown next summer for my sisters graduation. I'm from Canada but we had our wedding in Oklahoma, where we live now so I thought it might be fun to take my dress and do a second shoot in my hometown with some of our "landmarks" and things that feel like home (like drinking Tim hortons in my dress!) but that will be just over a year after our wedding... Is that too late? Or is it more of a "as long as I fit in the dress I might as well do it since I paid so much for it" kind of situation? My other reason was my mom was unable to make it to the wedding and I would LOVE to have a photo of us together with me in my dress

What do yall think?

I would say if that's something you want to do, go for it! You paid for the dress, so you can do whatever you want in it...especially since you don't have a photo of you in the dress with your mom. That reason alone would be enough for me.

I think it's a great idea..and who doesn't want to wear there dress at least 100 more times Smiley smile, I think your mom would love to be a part of that as well.

I've got one booked for the end of next month...I'm not going to RUIN (and the photog knows this) the dress but have more fun with the shoot. Someone here called them "Creative Bridals" which is what I'm kinda running with to describe them. My MOH is coming with me and we're both going to completely trash and ruin the dresses we wore in each other's wedding...nothing off limits there (and am thinking about florescent paint).

I think your idea of the anniversary is adorable...I wanted DH to come with me and when I told him about it all I got was "do I have to go?" Which is his code for "No way"

I say do it! I love the idea of doing landmark pictures. It'll be so much fun. I haven't given much thought to doing trash the dress pictures, but I do love them.

I was against a trash the dress shoot until after the wedding. Now, I'd love to put my dress back on and take photos in the woods with a creek. Maybe in the fall/winter when the weather is tolerable!

I agree, do what you want! A friend of mine is doing it. They are getting married in FL and while there her and her daughter will be jumping in the ocean in their dresses!!

For sure! I'm not sure what exactly the photog has in mind, but I know we aren't doing landmarks or anything like that. He's doing it for free, I'm just along for the ride...and he knows there will be no swimming/mud/paint/ripping of my wedding dress! Its not until 8/30 and just booked hair and make up before hand for it today!
