Am i wrong

Jackie, on January 8, 2020 at 4:45 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 54
Am I wrong for let my fiance pay for the wedding? I can't work due to getting hurt on the job. My fiance gave me a budget and he said get whatever you want for our big day you will get it.

I was thinking instead of going on a honeymoon we will take a family trip instead?

If you are unable to work and your fiancé offered, there’s nothing wrong with accepting! Just make sure you stick to the budget. Also, a family trip may be fun but I think it’s still important to have a time that’s just the two of you. Even just for a weekend.

Consider it is his wedding as well and he knows you can't work because you are injured then I don't think if is wrong for him to pay for the wedding. He gave you a budget so I would work with that. As for the honeymoon, the more people that go the more expensive it is so I would say just the two of you should go since your husband would be paying for it by himself.

    Veronica,
He is the one that said about a family trip and I said yeah that would be cool. His daughter said she will watch the kids 1 night so we can go out by ourselves and we r having a 3bedroom suit for all of us and I asked a friend If they could help nd they said yes

If he can afford it and you both want the wedding, I'd plan the wedding. If you'd prefer to elope and take a honeymoon, then do that.

If he gave you the money then go ahead and plan your wedding. Obviously you can’t work so I would just be mindful of the budget he gave you and make sure to get his input along the way. Have fun planning.

    Cyndy,
I'm showing him everything except for the dress. I'm letting the kids have a say in the reception

If you can't work, presumably he will be paying for everything after the wedding, too. And you will need to learn to accept his help. So long as he can afford it and you are not violating the conditions he put on it (e.g., you are keeping to his stated budget), I see no harm in letting him pay for the wedding.

Maybe you can try talking to his parents and him so everything is in the open and find out why his parents don't like you.
