Am i too early in buying these things?

My wedding isnt until april 2020, but I am excited to buy stuff for me. I'm talking more about a veil, bouquet (which will be fake flowers), things like that. I ended up getting my wedding dress way to early. I dont want to make that same mistake again. Should I wait to buy these things or get these...

I'm getting married Oct 2020 and I have all my centerpiece decor, dress, veil, linen rentals lined up (although I did change those once already oops haha).

Yes it is too soon for things like clothing and accessories. Why not plan things that have a longer return/regret policy like venues or vendors instead?

That's what I'm scared of. I look for veils and bouquets then fall in love with something else. So I'll wait. I want to save money but it's better getting it later than wasting money.

I agree with this! Also April 2020 and I have most things at least purchased, but I’ve been very decided on what I want

I’m a bargain shopper and shopping early (or more like taking good deals when you find them) is a great way to save money as long as you use the stuff and don’t change your mind on what you want.

Our Wedding is Feb 2020 and I bought my dress last Nov and have been buying stuff as I find it. I feel like its financially easier to buy it as I come across it, versus all at once and stress about money. It has worked well so far with 7 months and a few days before we say I DO. This works for us, it may not work for everyone.

If you feel you may change your mind and end up spending double on things, then maybe wait a bit.

I am also getting married in April 2020 and my mind has changed on a few things than what I originally thought I would have. So I do recommend maybe holding off on the decorative stuff until your very sure. While I do have my colors I am only looking out for things that I have saved pictures of and loved for a long time now. I understand wanting to get what you can now because I like being prepared and the idea of spreading the cost out but things such as shoes, jewelry, that can change before then and you can end up spending more money if you buy now or like I’ve done before, because it’s on a great sale at the time.

My engagement will be three years by the time of our wedding in September. I booked all my vendors within the two year out mark. As for everything else, I waited 13 months out to purchase my dress. I would definitely not buy your veil until you are set on your dress. If you are wearing the one you've already purchased, then I'd say sure. If you are waiting to find another one, wait until your dress alterations to decide on your veil I think. For decor, I would wait until you find your venue and decide whether you will have any kind of theme. After that, go for it. Just know that sometimes you will change your mind. I waited until the year out mark to start buying anything to make sure I loved it. Smiley smile Good luck!!

I think there is a fine line between too early and not. Personally i got engaged 14 months prior to our set date. I fell in love with a lot of things (still love them) but told myself it was too early. I waited and waited and life happens, money got tighter closer to wedding date and now here I am 4 months out from my date and struggling to justify buying certain things now because I know its more important to pay the remainder off on my vendors and my everyday bills. Small things I don't think it will hurt buying ahead of time... I made my veil after I tried one on and fell in love but saw the price. I wouldn't go with veil or bouquets yet but jewelry and little things here and there... maybe small favor ideas.. I think those are all good ideas. Along with decorations for venue! Just my personal opinion.

We got engaged Oct 2018, set our date in Dec 2018 for Dec 2019. Soon afterwards I was purchasing what I could with holiday sales. Nothing major like gifts or attire, but small décor items I could easily return if needed.

I think no matter the length of your engagement, you will be purchase stuff and end up not wanting it anymore. I had a year engagement and thought I had dress regret until I had my alterations two months before the wedding. The seamstress did some magic and made me fall in love with my dress all over again. Matter fact after it was altered (taken in and bra added), I liked it better than when I originally ordered it.

I brought a number of items that a passed on to others during my engaged. I ordered a lot of stuff early to give me the chance to return something if I didn’t like it or buy other items. Also, I was able to test out places like Ali Express which take a while to ship stuff but the prices are pretty cheap.

My wedding is October 2020 and plan on dress shopping in the next two weeks. The biggest pro to buying early is getting things on sale. I'm waiting until this fall to buy the décor all on clearance for my wedding the following fall. Venue and caterer are already selected and paid for. Things book quick!
