I want a really nice, special ring for FH. He once told me a story about Pebble the Penguin. It's a movie about a male penguin who wants to give a special rock to the female penguin he loves and he finds a piece of meteorite. He said if he could, he'd make a whole ring out of that one material for me because I'm so special to him.

I'd like to have some in his wedding band and this company can alter it how ever you'd like. Started messaging the company to see if they could add a guitar string in place of the blue wood band in the center (FH plays bass guitar). Still waiting to see how much it'll cost but here's the crazy part: as it stands, it costs almost as much as our wedding venue.

The other option is from Patrick Adair. It would end up with black powder in the day time and glow blue at night with an inlay of meteorite and amethyst for $375.

Am I crazy for wanting to spend so much on his ring? My set alone was only $150 but that's because we were given a great deal by the shop owner. I want to get him something custom that literally no one had but I also want to be reasonable about it.

I personally really like the Johan ring! I feel like I'd leave it to him to choose though since he's wearing it. You can even show him pics without the prices

You could show him those two pix and say there’s a third custom done, but it’s pricy. And don’t tell him the details- keep it a surprise. And if he says sure- go for it!!!

I like both options. I love the classic look of the first, but the fun glowing side of the second! Hard choice sweetie!

Personally I like the first one better.
We splurged a bit on his band, it was under 1k and exactly what he wanted. It's also timeless. No shame in getting something as long as it's within budget.

You should check out Staghead Designs, www.stagheaddesigns.com. They specialize in custom rings with inlays, and I bet they’d love to do a guitar string. The rings I’ve seen them produce for men are less than the Johan ring and are very similar, with the brushed and hammered metal options. I plan on getting my FH’s ring from there when we get a bit closer to the wedding.

So I spent over $1000 for my FH rose gold ring, because it is exactly what he wanted. It was nearly as much as our venue.... But I could afford it, so crazy, no as long as you can afford it, if you need to make major cuts to the rest of your wedding budget or go in debt, then not worth it for now. You could maybe upgrade for your 5th or 10th anniversary

I think the custom one is such a special idea! Not crazy at all to me. If you can afford it, I definitely think this is an area to splurge on

THANK YOU for sharing this! FH is based up in Michigan right now using that as a hopping point fir stage hand work! I was doing it with him for a couple years until we moved. Gonna check them out here in a few. Thanks again! ❤

There’s nothing crazy about it. I wanted to get FH a dinosaur+meteorite ring for $800+ but he put his foot down. It’s ring, his choice what he wears. He ended up picking out his own ring just like I picked out mine.

Just let him pick out his ring. I don’t think either price is too much for a ring. It’s the one jewelry item you wear every day. $800 is cheaper than a lot of big engagement rings. Isn’t it the same thing?

I love the glow stone ring! I would get his input though, unless you decided it will be a surprise. I don’t think either option is too much as long as they’re within your budget.

I wanted to do some crazy custom for my man too but here's the thing that I considered. What if he breaks or looses it? The more custom it is the harder it is to fix or replace. My fiance goes through probably three pairs of glasses a year from breaking them or loosing them. I'm getting him a nice ring off etsy made of titanium with a similar band in the middle but it only runs around $40 so if he messes it up we can get him a new one easily.

No you’re not crazy you’re super thoughtful!!!! Try to do the in between option. Don’t overspend too much if you can! Maybe shop around a little more!

My FH ring was more than mine as well. Guys don't have as many choices as us ladies do so when you can make him something special or give him something that'll stand out.....go for it! I like the meteorite one but both are beautiful and I think he'd like either.
