Am i alone in feeling this way?

Abby, on May 23, 2020 at 11:24 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 8
I feel like since being forced to postpone our wedding when we were three months away (supposed to be married next weekend) I’ve lost any motivation, or desire to do anything related to our wedding. Going in our office and just seeing all the decorations sitting there just makes me sick to my stomach and I want nothing to do with it. Our new date is in November, but i had essentially everything done and nothing left to put together. So everything is just together and complete, but part of me doesn’t even want it anymore because it’s never going to be the wedding I dreamed up. Am I alone in feeling this way?

You are not alone. I feel the same way. Lately I wake up late, just laying on my bed. I also keep going to my garden and cut branches and weeding like crazy until I feel tired. I guess there is some kind of anger building in me as well 😔

Same. We had everything done, and now people are starting to ask me if we'll postpone again. I see all the stuff in our bedroom that I know we won't use and I just. Ugh. I'm ready for the day to come so we can officially call ourselves married with our parents there.

Definitely not alone. I'm starting to feel hopeful that the wedding will happen in August (was supposed to be May 30). I'm trying to stay positive but sometimes I definitely get depressed. For me it's been a comfort having a backup plan - worst case scenario we will rent a tent and have a shindig in our backyard with as many guests as we are allowed to have gather. It's strange and a bummer to think about but at the same time, I'm also really thankful for what I have. My parents and grandma got very sick with COVID so at the end of the day I'm thankful that the people who are most important to me will be there. Hang in there.

Same. November can’t come soon enough. But now I’m worried about a potential second wave 😫

I can see that happening! It just feel disappointing to have to add more time to something you’ve already waited for. I would give yourself some time to feel those emotions and then get back to it when you’re ready

Ditto!! Postponed ours from June 27 to Aug 14. We were going to have a dessert table and have candy jars everywhere in my house. With COVID, highly doubt buffets of any kind is allowed or a good idea. Trying to repurpose them for wedding decor but I just sigh and walk away from them. So unmotivated!! 😞
