Alternatives to a ring bearer?

Ok, so when my hubby was younger, he told his niece whenever he gets married she will be his flower girl. She told him, only if he'll be her ring bearer when she got married. Fast forward many years, she's 20, got married and he (at 33) was her ring bearer. Now two years later, she will be our flower girl....but what about the ring bearer??? We don't have any male on either side we want. My question is....Do we need one?

    We are not having a ring bearer, simply because we have no little boys in either family. But I love your idea!

    So far I only have a flower girl. Which is my daughter. She will turn three about a week before the wedding. No one in the family has little boys. There are girls or are going to be way to old by then.
