Alternatives for a Bouquet/Garter toss?

Alyssa, on January 20, 2015 at 10:11 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10

I'm not comfortable with these events taking place, but my fiancé really wants to have them. He insists they will be fun, but I am skeptical. Is there a way to do something similar, or reinvent the two all together? Any alternatives that aren't so isolating?

I'm trying to look for alternatives too. I can literally think of two single women that will be there for the bouquet toss. I'm not really all that into the idea anyways.

I was toying with the idea of leaving out the tosses entirely and doing a cute game like this or something:

We just skipped them. I haven't been to a wedding in years where either were done.

We're not doing a garter toss, I don't like them at all and neither does FH. Instead of a bouquet toss I'm giving it to the longest married couple. There are a lot of good alternatives out there if you research it, like Andi said.

I feel like a bride on here did a Lotto ticket toss. That's what we are going to do. Our STDs were scratch off's so we are keeping with that somewhat theme on that note.

We are skipped both the garter and bouquet toss. Instead, we are going to invite all married couples to the dance floor and have the DJ ask who has been married longer than 1 year, 5 years, 10 years etc. until we get to the longest married couple and give it to them Smiley smile

There will literally not be one single girl at my wedding...I am in my 30s, and all of our friends have been married for 6-10 years at this point, so wasn't about to do a bouquet toss! FH is throwing a football out to the single guys with a note on it that says "you're next!" They won't realize what the are catching until it is caught!

We plan to do both simultaneously but instead of single people it'll be asked that anyone that wants to get lucky come to the dance floor. We have a.mostly young crowd.

I told my FH I didn't want to do a garter or bouquet toss & he said he wanted them.. I told him if he had been more involved with planning he would have known I'm not even going to buy a garter & our toss bouquet will go to the couple standing on the floor @ the end of our anniversary dance.
