Altering a lace shrug, anyone done this before?

Tina, on January 25, 2020 at 3:43 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4
I am going to my seamstress on Tuesday who is a genius so hoping she can figure something out but wanted to know if anyone has done something similar. I found online someone selling a shrug that matches my wedding gown perfectly (they are by the same designer which considering my dress is from 2011 is kismet). The big issue is the shrug is way too small for me. I literally can’t get both arms in for fear of tearing it at the shoulders. So it definitely needs altered. Either made wider or changed somehow. I know it’s a long shot but anyone done something similar? I’m accepting it might be a no go but I’m putting faith in my seamstress! Lol

I think unless they have matching lace it will be hard to alter that particular piece without changing the way it looks and matches with your dress. But, your seamstress would be able to give you better ideas. She may be able to find something similar to the lace and piece it in a way that keeps it from being too awkwardly noticeable. It likely won't be easy and probably won't be cheap. I've found usually when lace and beading are involved it drives the price up due to the complicated nature of the materials.

Hi! My seamstress has it and she’s confident in getting it to fit. I find out in two weeks!
