When did you/will you book your first dress fitting? I was told 6-8 weeks before the wedding but I’m curious to see what everyone else is doing!

I’m leaving August 30th for my September 1st elopement. I had my first fitting on 8/5 only because the alterations lady I wanted was out of town per emergency for 2 weeks. My next fitting is 8/12 and all that will be completed is opening of the dress. I still wanted to discuss straps and shortening which will take longer. Depending on what needs to be done I would say around 2 months. You never know what can happen.

Mine was delayed because of Covid. Mine was supposed to arrive end of May (for 8/1 wedding); instead arrived end of June - so just over 4 weeks. Because I got my alterations at the same place as I purchased my dress, they worked double time to make it happened.

Thank you! I would say if your bridal vendor offers alterations or has trusted partners that would be willing to accommodate a late arrival of a dress, I would highly recommend that. I had a similar experience with my second dress not being on time. While the seller of my second dress did not do on site alterations, they had a trusted partner who worked over time to get everything done in 2.5 weeks. Luckily, this dress didn't need many alterations but still could've been hard to have it happen.

I will say, I did schedule the alterations upon purchase of my dress or when I received an ETA and that helped insuring this would get done.

My dress originally said it would take 6 months to be delivered but ended up only taking exactly a month because it was ready to ship from the warehouse. I will probably call to schedule an appointment in December
