Alterations schedule

FutureMrsO, on January 19, 2017 at 12:48 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 23

How soon did you start alterations? I plan on calling the shop I ordered my dress from but I'm curious what other places do. I went and tried on my dress Monday and they said I have plenty of time for alterations so I'm unsure if I should go in today or not and meet with the seamstress.

My salon told me they start alterations 2 months before the wedding. Since yours is in may which is a popular wedding month you may want to start earlier or at least get your appointments booked earlier to get the times you want.

I'm starting mine February 4th, but May is a popular wedding and prom month for many high schools so they had me start it early!

I will be starting mine in March....but that is only because it won't be here until then. That is due to the shop I ordered it from though, their fault. Long story short I had to order a different dress so they are paying for a rush on it and paying for the rush on the alterations to ensure it will be done in time. (Since May is such a busy month for them.)

Usually you start 2 months before your wedding. It gives your seamstress enough time to do any major work that may need to be done, but close enough to your date that the sizing will be accurate.

I live across the country from where I'm getting married and I bought the dress in that state, so I am also doing alterations out there with the seamstress at that bridal shop. I was able to do a first fitting three months before my date (closest I could manage to the two month goal) and she is altering the hemline and completing the bustle. I will meet with her again exactly a week before the wedding when I get back into town and she'll take the dress in.

I just went to my first appointment last Friday and my wedding is the end of march. My next appt. is Feb. 15 to give you an idea of how spaced out they are. They are hemming my dress and adding on the bustle.

My seamstress wants the first fitting 5 months before the wedding! But from what I've heard that's very far in advance!

Call and speak to your seamstress as they all have their own timelines. Our seamstress likes to start the first fitting 6-8 weeks before the big day.

I had my first fitting last saturday. my second is april 15th and my last will be the month of june. I don't have much weight to loose so what she does now will mostly be the final way ill be. She said she gets super busy coming up with proms/weddings and had to turn people away last year. I didn't want that to happen to me so I figured might as well get started.

I called mine and told her I needed cups sewn in and a bustle added. She recommended coming in 2 months before the wedding, so that would be April for me. I plan on trying on my dress in a month since I've lost my weight, and if I feel like I need further alterations I'll call her again.

I am looking to have a few things done to my dress...hemmed, add boning to bodice and to thicken the tulle straps already on the dress. The seamstress recommended we schedule 3 months out.

My fist alterations appointment is set for the end of March. Wedding is 6/3. I think it's a little earlier then normal, the seamstress thinks I may need a couple appointments because I'm converting the back into a corset.

I had my first fitting on 01/14, second fitting is scheduled for 02/08, final fitting for 03/01 and I'm getting married 03/19 so I started two months before. I would be worried to do it too soon because you might change physically but I think two to three months is normal! Oh and she's just taking in the sides a bit, hemming it and adding a bustle

Like most ppl have said, aim for 2-3 months in advance. My date is not far from yours and I made an appointment with the seamstress for late February. All she needs to do is hem & bustle my dress.
