Has anyone had their alterations done at Kleinfeld? What was your experience? Was it worth it? My first fitting is coming up soon!

Hi Julie! Have you read through Kleinfeld's reviews on WeddingWire? You can now search reviews so I'd give it a try and search for alterations!

I did! They did a great job! My seamstress was Ines, and she really gave me very personalized attention, remembered everything about me and my dress every time I saw her, and she did not stop until it was perfect. We were running out of time before the wedding but I still needed more fittings and she even offered to give up her lunch one day to squeeze me in. A year later I went back with my sister for her fittings, saw Ines, and she still remembered me and what dress I wore. It's definitely super expensive there, but I knew having my alterations with them meant they were on the hook for anything that could've gone wrong, which nothing did, but that still gave me great peace of mind. My dress was perfect, and I would definitely choose them again if I had to do it over.

Thanks Lynnie! I’ll check to see if there are reviews on alterations as well. Didn’t even think of it haha.

That’s so awesome! I totally agree with the peace of mind aspect. How many fittings did it take? I have my first one late February and my wedding is April 28th. I just hope it’s enough time. They are the experts though. I’m so anxious to see my dress again after 9 long months!

I had 5 fittings, and they started 5 weeks before my wedding. I was dropping pounds like crazy so they kept having to take it in more. I probably would've only had to go for 3 if not for the weight loss.

From what i remember they do an amazing job with alterations, and they should since I believe it's a flat expensive fee... (from what I remember when I tried dresses there, back in 2014). It was somewhere around the $700 range for alterations, and they will do everything. Minus extras like adding beading etc. But all the usual stuff, take in/out, bustle, hem etc.

It is pricey! That’s for sure. I’m just super nervous about taking it anywhere else and the risk of getting it messed up. I have a pretty detailed dress with sheer material in places. Like fall bride said... it’s just a peace of mind thing at this point I think! It sounds like they do a fabulous job from the reviews I read.

I just finished my 2nd fitting and have 1 more to go unless I loose a little weight (which I hope I do). $895 flat fee, but they are very professional & work to get it perfect!!! Susana was my seemstress & she’s wonderful. One glitch in the begging though: I live in FL and I told them this beforb I tried on dresses & asked how alterations would work? They said I would schedule back to back fittings in one week. Great no problem right? Well when they called to inform me that my dress has arrived. I asked to schedule the back to back fittings. They said it was an extra $600!!!. That was never mentioned at my original appointment! I asked about shipping it to FL & that was $200+. So I didn’t do the back to back fittings, didn’t ship it. Bought 3 inexpensive plane tickets instead...

When I declined alterations at Kleinfeld, they gave me a list of Kleinfeld seamstresses that also work elsewhere or out of their homes. I just ordered my dress this weekend so most of them said they need to see me in the dress first to make an official quote but said $500-600 base price is typical which includes 3 fittings for bustle, taking it in, and hem. Ines, the seamstress mentioned by Mrs. Fall Bride, is also listed! Glad to hear you had a good experience with her.

Any chance you can share this list? I'm still contemplating on whether or not I should take my dress there or somewhere else. I have a lot of intricate beading on my dress.
