alterations is it possible? size 14 to size8

I would say, no. Usually I hear that dresses can be altered two sizes, any more than that and you lose the shape and structure of the dress. Are you a size 8 street clothes? Have you been measured? I wear a size 6 normally, but my wedding dress is a 10. Bridal fits so weird. I think that you'd be better off buying a new dress.

My alterations were just a bustle and hem and they were around $150-200.

I agree with @RayRay usually the can alter about 2 sizes. My cousin lost a lot of weight and ended up having to get a completely new dress because the altered her first as much as they could.

I think it could be done BUT would prob be cheaper buying the same dress in your size ....just curious how far in advance did you buy your gown?

I took mine from a 12 to a 6. Talk to your seamstress. Depending on the construction of your dress its definitely possible. My alterations were 325 all in (bra cups, crinoline, straps shortened, three point bustle, taking in bust hips and waist). They would have only been 250 without the crinoline. Good luck!.

When I did seamstress work on wedding gowns I did two dress that was one was a 12 took it down to a size two and I had another one that was a size fourteen and I took it down to size two, now mind you I had to take the dress apart but it can be done and what it cost now I won't know since I have not work in the industry for about a decade, find you a good seamstress and they can do it
