Alterations at Davids Bridal

Has anyone had any good or bad experiences with alterations at Davids Bridal? I've heard they are expensive. Attaching a picture of my dress in the comments. I would need it shortened & a bustle.

You're welcome, Ashley! I figured actual comparative numbers might help. Smiley smile

I almost got a different dress at David's, and they quoted me $120 to hem the whole thing. Just FYI.

Just had mine today. Great experience. My bustle is going to look great and the alterations department was so nice.

I had my final fitting today, and I have to say I'm actually really happy with the alterations department there! I needed a couple tweaks to the bustle, and she did it right there real quick, didn't try to charge me extra, and I'm really happy with how it came out! Smiley smile

DB is definitely different from store to store. I bought my dress and had it altered at DB. Could I have possibly had it done somewhere else cheaper? Probably, but it was pretty seamless for me to do it there. I had a wonderful experience and they did a great job. They also cleaned and steamed it for me for free after I had my bridal portraits taken. It really depends on the individual store. Either way, I would read reviews before you let anyone touch your wedding dress.

I just had a fitting at my local DB and I had a great experience. My dress is similar to yours but Is 2 pieces satin & lace over each other so super delicate. This is what I needed to have done & the price: Hem $120, taken out at the hips $50, straps up $15, 10 PT bustle (standard 3 is $50 and each additional is $7ea), cups $20. I had another thing added but can't remember at the moment. Total with tax my alterations cost $360. If I would have gone to my local shop it would have been over double because I didn't purchase from there.

ETA-after my dress came in I had some issues with one of the staff not helping direct what undergarments would be best for my dress. I just ignored it and figured I would pick some up somewhere else. My alterations specialist asked if I had my garments and I said no I had no help and wanted to see what I needed. She needed up giving me a free ceremony steam ($40 value) to compensate for the problem. Totally wasn't expecting it. I think it just depends on what DB you go to.
