Alterations at Davids Bridal

Ashley , on March 16, 2017 at 4:33 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 25

Has anyone had any good or bad experiences with alterations at Davids Bridal? I've heard they are expensive. Attaching a picture of my dress in the comments. I would need it shortened & a bustle.

When the lady quoted mine, I thought it was reasonable compared to a bridal boutique

Yup, super expensive, and they hemmed my bridesmaid dress pretty crooked. I will never go back.

I just needed a bustle so it was fine for that.

My alterations at DB (shoulder straps taken up and a bustle added) weren't but $111. Very reasonable compared to some others I've seen.

Very much over priced for poor work. My alterations (a hem, shoulder strap tightened just a bit, and a bustle) was quoted more than my dress. A local, reputable seamstress quoted less than $100 for much better quality work.

My sister wore the exact same dress. It is lovely.

I bought mine through DB but, didn't alter there. They are expensive and have contracts with the designers that they can only make certain alterations.

We just took my neice in for alterations on her bridesmaid dress and it almost cost as much as the dress! Dress was $150 Alterations were $105 for a hem, taking up the shoulders and closing the slit a bit. She is 11, not 11 yr old needs a slit in her dress!

My BMs got their dresses there and the girl who was helping us literally told us to go somewhere else for alterations

I had a great experience at DB. My alterations cost just over $100 for a bustle, taking up the shoulders and cups. I guess it all just depends on your body and how much you need altered. My dress's fit and height were almost perfect for my body so I was lucky.

I got my dress from DB. Don't do alterations there. They quoted me the same I paid for my dress for a hem and a bustle. I took my dress to my fsil's bridal seamstress who does amazing work and am paying way less for better quality work. Bonus my seamstress is amazing with people DB alterations department needs customer service help.

My suggestion is find a local person who does it! But reputable.

I bought my dress from DB. I didn't use them because my dress cost $400 and the alteration quote was $700. I went to a locally owned dress shop and asked if they knew of any seamstress's they could recommend. She in fact did and I only paid $75 for 7 bustle's since I have a side train and a little bit taken off the bottom. So grateful I was able to find an amazing seamstress for an affordable price.

So, I have the exact same dress, and am picking it up tomorrow for my final fitting. Smiley smile

I didn't need it shortened, just the bustle. The bustle was 6 points because of the layers, and was $71. ($50 for the first three, then $7/each). I did have to have the liner layer hemmed a bit in the front only (mine was a sample, this was the only imperfect thing about it), and that was $30. So my total was $101 plus tax.

Bought a DB dress; but found a seamstress elsewhere. A little cheaper, will cut off train that DB said they could not do & I just trust my seamstress moreso.

I would have gone elsewhere if I didn't live in such a small town. There was nobody I had heard of that specialized in wedding dresses and I couldn't just take that risk. It was expensive, but they did a wonderful job! Not all DBs are the same, you should read reviews on the one near you. Just because someone had a bad experience where they're from doesn't mean you will! Just read some reviews Smiley smile
