Alpacas?!

Mw, on December 12, 2019 at 1:37 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 24
I just received an email from our venue about a new package they are offering... an ALPACA package!!

The couple who own the place will bring their personal alpacas to the wedding for up to 2 hours... I never knew I needed something so bad! 😂
My only concern, we cannot afford an open bar (our friends and family would drink us homeless) and are just buying a few kegs and the rest is cash bar.
Is it poor taste if we were “extra” enough to have alpacas at the wedding but not an open bar? The alpacas are $200.00 for the two hours and an open bar obviously a lot more than that...

Look, Alpacas > Open Bar. You're having some drinks for the guests and I think that's enough. We're paying for a set amount of drinks and then its switching to a cash bar, and we wont even have alpacas! I don't think its in poor taste. And at the end of the day its your wedding so if you want alpacas then get the alpacas!

Ok... so.. alpacas sound amazing. A few kegs and the rest as a cash bar sounds fine. You are still providing the opportunity to drink and if you know your crowd, you don't want them so drunk they ruin your event. Plus, alpacas are amazing.

    Live Your Best Life!!!

Alpacas are something that people are definitely going to remember!
An open bar sometimes results in people remembering nothing...

    So Alpacas > open bar!

I guess this is a know your crowd thing, but my crowd doesn’t do cash bars so if we went to a wedding that had alpacas (way extra in my book) but I had to pay for my drinks, I’d be pretty peeved.

Don't forget that this is your day and ultimately your budget!! Every couple in the history of wedding planning has made budget decisions based on what is most important to them as a couple! Usually this is more like "we can't live without a killer band, but don't care as much about lots of flowers" BUT ALPACAS SOUND SO COOL!! Absolutely go for it Smiley smile

It's not like having alpacas changes you having an open bar. So basically your options are alpaca or no alpaca. Go alpaca! We had a beer donkey at our wedding, he was SO popular!

No way! Do it. Animals are way better than booze and its WAY cheaper. I dont think people would compare the two.

As a guest, I dislike cash bars.. however, I would never have the thought process of "wow splurged for alpacas and didn't have a host bar"... I wouldn't think like that. So do it!

Yes!! Go with the alpacas! A venue in my hometown is on a llama farm so you can pay to have the llamas out with the guests. I've never been to a wedding there, but one of my friends said it was so fun! I'd definitely choose the alpacas over an open bar. Smiley smile

Oh my gosh that's awesome. Have alpacas it will be so much fun! You still have some beer, we are having beer and wine; any liquor guests will have to buy themselves. Go for it!

Go for the alpacas!! $200 is so much less than what an open bar would cost.
