ALL of My Bridesmaids Dresses Are Too Big...I Have A Right To Be Mad...Right? *UPDATE IN COMMENTS, PG. 1*

Long story short...my MOHs and BMs all had to argue with the sales associate on what size to order their dresses. The sales associate gave them the whole "wedding dress/bridesmaids dress sizes are different than regular street sizes..." blah blah blah....which I get. But, ordering a size larger...

Long story short...my MOHs and BMs all had to argue with the sales associate on what size to order their dresses. The sales associate gave them the whole "wedding dress/bridesmaids dress sizes are different than regular street sizes..." blah blah blah....which I get. But, ordering a size larger would be sufficient..MAAAYBE even 2 sizes. But 4-5 FREAKIN SIZES TOO BIG! Come on!

One of my MOHs is a street size 0, so she told the associate to order her the smallest size the dress comes in. The associate "argued" and convinced her that she should get a SIZE 4!! And she convinced my 2 bridesmaids to order a SIZE 16, when they are usually a size 8-12 (if that)!

Now they are trying to charge my girls upwards of $100 for alterations...but it was the bridal shops fault!! I think they did it on purpose to get the alterations money. So I'm going with my MOH Wed. to talk to them directly, because that is not ok.

I have a right to be upset, right?

That sucks, you have the right to be totally pissed off. Alterations can be very pricey & some shops make more profit on them. I wish you luck, try to keep your cool.

@Starbuck - I understand that they rely on a size chart to recommend which size dress the customer should order, which is fine. But, 2 of my girls tried on the dress in the store and were measured in the store, by the same associate we spoke with yesterday, and their dresses were ordered way too big as well. She suggested a size for them, which they both disagreed with. Since they'd tried on the sample dress, they had an idea of how the dress would fit in their size, and asked her to order a smaller size than she'd suggested. The each tried the dress on again, and went back and forth with her about the size. She then gave them the "bridal/bridesmaid and street dress size" speech, and how she knew the designers dresses and how they run. So, they weren't going to refute her suggestion after that.

That's where we have the problem. Not so much that the dresses were ordered way too big, but that the PROFESSIONAL basically convinced them that they NEEDED the bigger size & they didn't

And now, because she has their agreement to the size in "black & white", it's MY GIRL'S fault that the wrong sizes were ordered. And not just 1 or 2 girls...all 4.

They were all going to need alterations somewhere, whether it was the hem, or the bust, waist etc. But when one of my girls had to get everything on her dress taken in, by a substantial amount...that's not ok. When she tried on her dress, it didn't even touch her...that's how big it was.

@Shaquaya - Oh, I wanted to go off! But, I love to kill 'em with kindness ao when they realize they are wrong, I continue to be reeeaally nice (and somewhat sarcastice) and my "niceness" just pisses them off! LOL!

@Robin - I know, it sucks. And as long as they keep cool, I wil.

I have a friend who purchased her wedding dress for her wedding last summer. The associate measured her for the dress (including the length of the dress).. wrote the measurements down, associate and my friend collectively decided on what size to order based on these measurements. Fast forward a few months, the dress arrives and it is TOO SHORT (the length was customizable). The store refused to do anything about it as my friend had "agreed" to the measurements. It also could not be fixed due to the fabric/design of the dress. $1500 down the drain.... anyways at least your problem can be fixed! I am sure not all stores purposely measure 'up' but there are certainly a lot of these types of situations which is unfortunate Smiley sad

I would be going up the chain, corporate? I hate to say it but sometimes nice doesn't get you what you want. It really depends on the situation. This is not a kindness one IMO.

@TooManyMistys - I don't think the shop is incorporated. It's a local shop, with 2 locations. But, we did get the owner's contact infor.

It's hard for me to be REALLY mean (I can be stern and matter-of-fact though lol), so that's why my MOH took over.
