All About Veils!

Lisa, on August 31, 2021 at 1:40 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 48
Are you wearing a veil with your dress? If so, what length? Is it plain or decorated? Does it match your dress? If not wearing a veil, are you wearing a hair pin or clip instead? Post a photo of your veil and/or hair piece!

I didn't wear a veil to our microwedding, but I will be wearing one for our upcoming big wedding. It is a fingertip length Crystal and Metallic Thread Scalloped Hem Veil. It looks amazing with my dress, I cannot wait to wear them both!

I'm not sure if I am or not, I'm leaning towards not wearing one. When I first tired on my dress I had one on that had a little bit of beading around the edge and it was fingertip length, my FSIL liked it was more than I did. I think I'll just get a hairpiece.

Oh my gosh, this is gorgeous!!! I love the details around the edge of the veil! Do the details on the veil match the details on your dress?

Makes sense! Veils can be a bit of a hassle too, totally understand why some people opt to not wear one. Do you have a specific hair piece in mind?

Because I tend to be over the top (even in every day life 😆) I am actually doing both!
For the ceremony I will wear a veil. It is a custom-made celestial inspired veil. The length is between chapel and cathedral.

Then for our reception, I am going to wear a custom made headpiece made of clear quartz spikes pointing upward in order to channel positive and healing energies down through me. It will be along the lines of this

Both accessories reflect the dreamy celestial vibe of my dress

These are so unique!! I *love* the celestial them! Such a beautiful quote written along the bottom of the veil, too.

Thank you 💕 We had planned an elaborate celestial themed wedding prior to Covid. But now that we have postponed twice, we have pretty much scrapped having a theme all together and are just doing things more low key/less hassle. There will still be celestial nods here and there, but nothing like we’d planned.
Unless we are STILL unable to have our destination wedding next year (god forbid!) If that’s the case, we may just have a local wedding and bust out all the celestial decor! 🖤✨

I never wanted a veil, it's just not my style, and if I were to get one it's simply for the ceremony to appease my mother who states if I don't wear a veil i'm just a girl in a dress not a bride (this was yelled at me when I told her I didn't want to wear a veil, she owned a bridal store for 20 years and is a little passionate lol)

But after I picked my dress, my mom actually stated she thinks the dress looks better without a veil.

I found this headpiece on Etsy that comes with matching earrings that I think I'm gonna use.

I’m on the fence so would appreciate the input of fellow brides on here. I tried on a few different veils and both my seamstress and bridesmaid said the dress looks better without it. Here is the back of the dress and here is the hairstyle with a headpiece I will be wearing.

Before I started shopping, I thought I didn’t want a veil, but I actually ended up saying yes to my veil before deciding on my dress! I tried it on and had that “this is it” feeling that no dress had given me. It was cathedral length with an all-over embroidered/ lace petal detail.

I didn’t wear a veil for our legal ceremony since it was just me and hubby, but for our wedding with our family my mom really wants me to wear a veil. I was split on it since my dress has an awesome train and I didn’t know if I needed one, but she thinks that “the veil makes you a bride”. I figure it’s the only time I can ever get away with it, so why not. In addition, I figured go big, or go home-and ordered the LONGEST one I could find-157” which is almost 13 feet 😂. I wanted to make sure it wouldn’t distract from my train or the back of my gown, so it had to be even LONGER.

I wore one for the ceremony, but not for MOST of the reception--until DH decided that it was $150, I should wear it longer than just the ceremony. Here is with and without my veil, and my hair piece!

I'm wearing a veil! I want it to be completely plain but huge, dramatic and very long, and for it to cover my face. I wanted people to gasp and be like, well THAT is the bride, no confusing her with anyone else!

Here are some examples of what I want (I know the second one has pearls on it, but it's still the right shape - I like something more rounded and less long and thin than veils that seem so popular these days)

Ugh COVID has ruined so many plans over the past year and a half. Sorry to hear that you've had to postpone twice! The celestial decor would still be really cool to use for an anniversary party or even a "just because" get-together with friends with a celestial theme! What celestial decor are you still planning on using for your wedding in addition to the veil and starburst nails?

I’m not sure what all we are going to use yet. I have literally thousands of dollars of celestial decor packaged up in storage bins in the basement! If it doesn’t end up getting used, I’ve thought about just doing a newlywed photo shoot in my rehearsal dress (very celestial) when FH and I return from the DW. Luckily, it’s all my aesthetic anyway… so a lot of it I can use in the home (my guest bedroom has celestial/witchy decor crammed into every square foot LOL). And what we don’t use I can always sell or give away to friends.
