Alcohol for the wedding

So FH and I are trying to budget for the wedding. Our venue is letting us provide the alcohol rather than using theirs which would tack on $5,000 (they don't do consumption bars). We are looking at 180 people if everybody comes. Would this be enough alcohol? Only 70-80 people coming drink, and most...

We're buying more than that for 25 guests. If you google wedding alcohol calculator you should find some decent resources to figure out how much you need

I spent $600 on alcohol and the bartender brought the mixers and ice and all the cups for toast and drinks. He was another $600 $1200 total bar cost and I went home with too much if you ask me. LOL

I would look at buying from a place that allows you to return unopened bottles. That is what we are doing. We are over buying and the salesman can tell you how much, too.

ETA: About fireball, I only drink it in shots, too! Our venue does not allow shots. It has to be "on the rocks"

Assume two drinks per guest the first hour and one drink for every hour after. Also a drink calculator will be your best friend.

Try to buy from a store that will let you return any unopened bottles.

I agree with pp you need a clear liquor or 2 (vodka, gin) or even a rum. What you have isnt enough.

Yeah, you need vodka, and gin as well preferably.

Also - more beer options. More wine. I always find it funny when people act like they know what literally every guest attending their wedding drinks.

@Anne, we hang out pretty often and attend a lot of parties and family gatherings together where there is alcohol so yes I know exactly what they prefer to drink and what they absolutely will not drink.

I'd get more, and add some variety. For reference, this is what we got for a group of 110 adults (most drinking):

    - 2 handles of vodka

    - 2 handles of rum

    - 2 handles of bourbon

    - 2 handles of gin

    - 1 bottle tequila

    - 11 cases of beer (264 servings, a keg holds 165 servings)

    - 8 cases of wine

    - 1 case sparkling wine

We had ~2.5 cases of beer, 1 case of wine, and 1 handle of gin left over. Everything else went. Overall we spent ~$1,200 (get your liquor in Delaware if you can).

I needed to know if I had enough alcohol, not variety

Jess, basically everyone told you that you need more alcohol, that includes more variety.

Yes, you're going to run out of alcohol. I have more than this at parties for 40 people

Absolutely not enough. That might be good for 20 drinkers.

Edit: if most your guests are beer drinkers, you need more options and a shit ton more beer

Also, research where you can buy your alcohol that you can return the un opened bottles to. We had $200 extra that we were able to return to Specs!
