Alcohol for Reception?

Where did everyone get the alcohol for their reception? we want to do open bar wine, beer, and spirits but I don't want to go broke lol. How much did you spend? We have roughly 150 guests and probably 120 of them drinking.

Oh, also don't forget the mixers (margarita mix, sweet n sour, sprite, coke, diet coke, tonic water, and garnishes like lemon, lime, cherries and olives).

So our venue requires a bartender, but I used to manage a bar in the area so a girl that used to wrok for me offered to do it as a wedding gift for free! I'm letting her put out a tip jar and paying for her to get licensed in that county (which is only like $25) so we're getting off cheap there!

I'll definitely look up the calculator though! We're doing a sendoff brunch the next day so we'll probably use whatever is left over for that.

I think we're just gonna do like 3 pre-decided drinks like a vodka cran, margarita, and a jack and coke or something like that so we don't have to buy too many different liquors and mixers!

Yup. We're planning on a well stocked, but not everything stocked bar. Our caterer has bartenders for hire ($200 for the night) and they come with ice, oh yeah don't forget ice! Cups, cocktail napkins.... lol Is your friend coming with her own bar utensils as well?
Probably 2 to 3 kinds of whiskey, a tequila, and two vodkas. I am alse planning at least a quarter keg or two for those beer drinkers and a two wines.
Also plenty of bottles of water cause I'd die without some lol.

We're planning to do the same! Well stocked, but not everything.

She has all of the bar utensils, but most likely we are going to have most things premixed (besides jack and coke) so that she can just serve. We have a catering kitchen with an ice maker, but I'll honestly probably get a few bags of ice just to be safe. I have been looking on amazon for the cheapest place to get plastic cups and napkis as well!

We're going to do beer that we're getting from walmart (they price match amazon!) and wine from Aldi ($3/bottle for really good wine)

I'm also taking some suggestions from above and letting people bring bottles as well!

Having a lot of pre-mixed is a good idea. We're having about 6 to 7 hours of open bar time. With that amount of people, and depending on the time, have you made sure your tender is ok with that? I know when my caterer suggested one I asked to make sure because that is a lot of people and a lot if time. My caterer assured me all will be handled as all of his servers are not only food handler certified but also TABC certified, so if help is needed they can jump in.

As well as Amazon there are places like etsy and oriental trading (marry me is there sub-wedding shop) that you can get customized cups and napkins that I've been looking at.

So she and I used to work at a college bar together and we worked usually 12 hour shifts. I plan to pay her (even though she doesn't want me to) and I am definitely considering getting another person licesned to help her out. I don't realistically know how many of my guests will be drinking, but I may have someone else to help her and act as a bar back just to mix all of the drinks and keep them stocked while she serves!

I'll definitely look on both etsy and oriental trading because that sounds so cute!

Thank you for this because we're having an open bar and I was wondering where we could find liquor for a cheaper price. I'm willing to take that four hour drive lol
