Alcohol at the rehearsal dinner?

We will have a full open bar at the wedding, but I'm wondering what to do about the rehearsal? I want it to be more casual. My first choice was Portillos, a famous hot dog place in Chicago, but they don't book private parties during the holiday season =(... Now we are looking at some other places...

Now we are looking at some other places around us and were just wondering about including alcohol? What have you guys done or what are you planning on?

We're doing Italian at a BYOB and bringing in some wine bottles and beer.

No idea what we are doing yet! We are spending so much on the actual wedding I thought it would be nice to just do pizza and beer and relax before the big day! Or an Italian restaurant and some wine....I have not gotten this far, but we will definitely offer alcohol. Lol. I must remind myself to limit it to two, because I have to be up early and you know, get married and stuff. Smiley winking

We are having alcohol at ours. We are at a tex-mex place and the "cheapest" bar package they offered included margarita's (the bridal party is thrilled!).

Still no clue where FMIL intends on this thing happening... But alcohol should definitely be a part of it or I'm kidnapping guests and taking them to a bar.

FMIL has taken over planning our RD. Her thought is a great BYOB restaurant we all love. So we would be providing beer and wine.

I posted before about how we were doing a two hour cocktail party instead of a rehearsal dinner since the rehearsal is at 1:00pm on Friday. FMIL FINALLY decided on having an open bar since there will be 50 people attending for this affair. 25 of them are coming from Brazil, and we didn't want anything too formal as many do not know English. I think it'll be so fun! In terms of you doing a casual dinner, I think that's fine and I think limiting their drinks really wont be the end of the world. They will be boozing a ton the next day!

Ours is at a sports bar and grill--very casual, good food, and whatever our guests want to drink. We're paying and I'm sure most of the adults would like to have a drink or two or three or whatever to go with their meal.

FIL included beer, wine, and sake (it was at a hibachi restaurant).

Our rehearsal dinner is at a place that also has their own vineyard, so we are doing wine tasting before dinner, but FIL's are also providing alcohol throughout dinner.

Where in Chicago are you looking to hold the RD? We did ours at the oldest house in Chicago (Norwood Park Historical Society) and we brought in Lou Malnati's and had a hot dog cart with dogs and beef. We got Eli's Cheesecake for dessert. We bought beer and wine from Binny's and were able to return whatever wasn't opened. It worked out great! We had about 40 people and the size was just right. If we had any more than that we would have needed to rent the other side of the house.
