Aisle Runners...are they all paper thin?

Mrs. C, on February 3, 2013 at 7:45 AM Posted in Planning 0 14

I'm finding that I have sooo many questions lately Smiley smile

We were at Hobby Lobby yesterday, and I was looking at their aisle runners (they were and are again on sale 50% off). One of them was opened, and I felt it, and noticed that it is very thin. Are they all like that? Is this a good idea? Thoughts?

I usually advise going without them; do petals, do without, but it's not really necessary and it's just another expense....

I noticed that most of them are thin so I've been looking online and just reading the reviews. I have seen reviews on a couple that aren't super thin. If I can find it, I'll post a link to it.

Hmmm...you're all making me think again. I wasn't going to use one. Then, I decided to because I thought it would look better. The carpet in the church is hunter green...which I am not a huge fan of, and I also was thinking I'm not sure how the flower petals would look on the carpet (a bright pink...like hot pink).

Flower petals are better for outdoor venues. I personally hate aisle runners. They seem more like a trip hazard unless they're made like an actual rug.

Some church weddings just skip the aisle runner and decorate ends of pews with flowers.

I'm doing the petals on both sides of the aisle instead. I always trip or feel like I'm going to trip on the regular runners. I've had many close calls walking back from the alter after the wedding.

If you are having an out door wedding I would think twice about it. You can trip and fall. And your shoes are just going to tear holes. All the ones I have seen are super thin.

@ella - runners for outdoor ceremonies are trip hazards waiting to happen!! Better to use the petal idea or nothing at all....

See I had this question too. Because our wedding is going to have an outdoor ceremony, but the aisle is made up of big stones and I don't want it to tear my dress up. But I am going this weekend to the open house and I'm going to check out the aisle again..Because if I decide I want a runner I'm going to get my aunt to make one out of thicker material. Good luck.

Unless its muddy outside, I think flower petals are better than a runner, you're only going to get grass stains if you are tackled like a football player. Another thing to think about with a runner outdoors is if it is windy they blow around and because of uneven ground they could be a tripping hazard. Indoors if the carpet is horrid then I would consider it, otherwise I don't think you need to spend the money on a runner. Wedding gowns aren't as super fragile as people think. Yeah I wouldn't put one in the washing machine, unless it specifically said it was okay, but I'm also not gonna worry about it touching the ground either.
