Aisle runner: Yay or nay?

Julianasantos, on August 7, 2019 at 11:29 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 21

Hi everyone! I have been very torn on the decision to use an aisle runner or not. I don't particularly want to use one but my mom and friends keep telling me that I need one so that the bottom of my dress doesn't get dirty. I'm not too concerned about that. The way I see it, the bottom will get dirty regardless when we take photos outside. Do you think that I should use one anyway? The aisle at our church is a very pretty marble so I'm not concerned about the need to cover up an ugly floor or anything along those lines. Thoughts?!

I would leave it! If your not worried about getting the dress dirty, already have a nice floor and everything I think there is no need. Maybe you could just put rose petals along the sides of the aisles so it looks pretty but I wouldn't do a whole runner.

I say skip the aisle runner if you don't want one! You're so right, the bottom of the dress is going to get dirty anyway - that's just part of the deal with long dresses Smiley smile

An aisle runner would just be one more expensive and thing to manage in my opinion. I wouldn't want to cover up the marble floor! Do what makes you happy. I got married on a deck and didn't use an aisle runner. My dress didn't get that dirty.

Personally I don't care for aisle runners. I have seen too many get caught in a heel or under a bride's dress. If the floor is as pretty as you say, use what you have if that's what you prefer. And a runner can get just as dirty as a marble floor. As you mentioned, you'll be wearing the dress outside for pics anyway.

That was honestly one of the things I never even thought of. It sounds like the floor is pretty to start off with, so why cover it up? Plus if it were me, I'd be worried about tripping on it, but I'm clumsy.

Marble floor sounds pretty enough so no need to cover it. And like you said, the dress will get dirty anyway throughout the evening.

What does your Church say about aisle runners? You don't want anybody tripping especially if they don't have good enough balance!

I have the same thoughts as you and think it’s another pointless way to spend money

If your floor is pretty then you don’t need to cover it up!

If it’s not something that’s important to you, skip it. Why add the expense?

Thanks everyone!! My thoughts exactly were the why spend the extra money and I would definitely be the one to trip on it! You all made me feel so much better about not using a runner

I had the same issue. I wanted one but people said it could be a safety hazard since there were a lot of old people that could trip on it. So thankfully we didn't use it since the church floor was beautiful and elegant as is and the flower girls petals were white and so is the runner so they would have blend in anyway.

I opted out of an aisle runner. We’re getting married indoors and I didn’t feel like spending more money lol

I’m not using one. If you don’t want to use one, don’t! That’s my answer for everything lol. It’s my second wedding and we are doing everything how we want it.

My church doesn't allow aisle runners because they are a tripping hazard. I would check with your church first to see if they even allow them.

Skip it! They honestly lead to more tripping than it's worth since it can bunch up if it's not a heavy one that is made to stay put. Remind your mom that you will be walking plenty of places without a runner and your dress will be fine. No one is going to look under the bottom of your train for dirt from the floor.

An aisle runner was a huge waste of money in my budget. If the floor is clean (and pretty marble) Id go without!
