Aisle Runner Alternatives

Madison, on November 13, 2013 at 9:21 AM Posted in Planning 0 7

Hi, I am getting married at an outdoor venue in June. The ceremony will be in a dirt area under a bunch of trees (think camping). I do not want to get my dress covered in dirt or pick up a bunch of leaves on my walk but I also do not like the look of aisle runners. Any suggestions from you creative ones? Thanks!

Go medieval with woven mats or sprinkle the ground with herbs that are sweet smelling like mints, lavenders, sages. Or you could coat the ground with petals. Ive seen cultures with bare ground houses sprinkle water and stamp down the dirt so it is packed firm and then brush it with brooms, but I dont know how much time that takes. Or you could go old school and buy slate sheets and build a stone path, or buy pebbles by the bushel and build a pebble walkway a few weeks before so it has time to settle. Other alternative are hay and woodchips, both going to get caught up. Or have someone hold your skirt while you walk like the queen.

I am having an outdoor wedding as well! However I opted out of a traditional aisle runnner. I made these 6 in wide runners that go down the sides of the aisles. They are made with tool and flower petals. But if youre worried about your dress have a cute little boy in your family "carry" the back of your dress.

I am also having an outdoor June wedding and was worried about this. FH and I are going to "prune" the aria a couple of weeks before the wedding and the day before. I am hoping to do LOTS of flower peddles to replace the isle runner... Your best bet would probably to take time out and pack the dirt down.

Thanks for the ideas. The place is a park at a museaum, and I love how natural and beautiful it is, so I am trying to keep with that look and not take away from it, but i also dont want to just walk on dirt!

We're getting married in the grass.. our aisle runner is made out of burlap and lace. Burlap's a pretty solid material.
