Airbrushed makeup worth it?

Melody , on December 20, 2016 at 10:43 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 22

So I have started my search for hair/MUAs and had a few questions about it. I've never had my makeup prpfessionally done before. What is the benefit of having it airbrushed instead of traditional makeup? Is it worth the added expense? I am having my wedding in fl so there will be some heat and humidity involved if that makes a difference. Any advice or info would be awesome!

I personally did not like airbrushed makeup. I like the traditional look. I am getting married in June outdoors and still opted for a traditional look.

I loved when I had airbrush make up, it looked natural and felt like I had nothing on. I am also in fl and it lasted all night beautifully.

I love airbrush makeup, but I definitely think it's a personal preference thing! Both traditional foundation and airbrush makeup will give you full coverage and last all night, it's more about how you personally like your makeup to look and how your skin handles makeup. If you've never done airbrush I'd recommend doing a trial to see if you like it or not.

For me - airbrush gives me really great coverage, feels super light, and stays all night through sweat and tears Smiley smile

I think it depends on your skin type. For me personally, it's worth it. I have the skin of a 16 year old and airbrush covers my acne perfectly without feeling heavy on my face

For those that did it, do you generally wear a more full coverage foundation or light coverage? Generally when I do special events id go full coverage, ive heard that airbrush isn't as full coverage? Could be wrong though..

I did airbrush and I liked it, but it definitely did the micro-fracture thing on me. You can't tell in a single picture but up close in the mirror I could tell.

Honestly after doing all my research there's no way you can make a decision without having tried them both. Chances are either one will work on your skin but if you're not doing a trial I would just stick with traditional.

@amw wish It was in the budget to do a trial with both. Sadly I will only be doing one trial.

I loved my airbrushed make up! It looked so natural yet so good! I am not a make up person & own very little make up. I didn't not want to look overly done b/c thats not who I am. Airbrush just make my skin look smooth & clear- & I even got to keep my freckles! It lasted ALL day long. I think one of the benefits is its staying power despite a long hot, humid, day.

I loved airbrush, it lasted all night. It made my skin look flawless and I have old acne scars.

I LOVED my airbrush makeup. It stayed on 12+ hours with no fading whatsoever.

    There is minimal difference.

A skilled artist will be able to create a flawless finish with either product.

I don't think it's worth the price difference IMHO- if it's the same price- do which ever. If air brush is more expensive- I'd just go with traditional applications.

@Jo I was hoping you might stop by. Thats really nice to hear. All the artists I've found Airbrush is more expensive.

I consulted my friend who is a makeup artist when I was initially wondering this same question. She said that artists essentially use airbrush for bridal makeup for efficiency, because it doesn't take as long to apply. I never wear makeup, and am going the traditional route.

I did an airbrush trial for my engagement photos. It felt light and had lasting power, but I thought up close that it didn't cover some acne and discoloration. I asked the artist to do another layer and felt a little orange. My forehead wrinkles and pores were really noticeable too. See attached for photo right after the trial and before the photos.

@kristen thats my worry as well. I have some skin issues that cause redness and a little flakiness at times. Im afraid airbrushed wont cover it up.

Kristen you're going to have texture anyway- you can't simply foundation away pours- and the addition of more make up - up close- is going to literally highlight pores.

You can use a pore minimizer- but really- a flawless foundation is going to look like texture city from under 3 feet away.

@melody- no problem- super busy today- but happy I got a chance to chim in!!!

A lot of air brush is used for application- and then they go over with a beauty blender anyway to smooth over. Especially if you have some problem areas.

I had airbrush makeup done for my wedding! If you've never had pro makeup done, I would try to find a MUA that does both and try both for your trial to see what you prefer. I'm glad I got the airbrush done- it didn't smudge, didn't get on my hands or on my dress (I am notorious for getting makeup on my clothes) and I thought it looked very natural. It never caked or looked off-color like traditional makeup often does! We got married in July in an outside ceremony and I am an OILY person. I didn't have to touch it up once!!

I'm a little drunk in the second pic so please ignore the strange expression on my face and the pose haha but you can see- no shine, even after dancing my ass off all night at my reception!
