Airbrush makeup vs regular makeup?

Becca, on January 6, 2019 at 7:38 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 26

What is everyone doing for their wedding makeup? I've heard good things about both and am contemplating which direction to go for my wedding. What are your opinions?

My makeup artist used regular makeup. I also used a setting spray.

I'll be hiring an HMU artist and going the regular make-up route. I'll actually be providing my own make-up because I tend to react to make-up so I like using the brand I know won't cause me problems. The reason I chose to do regular vs airbrushed is full coverage usually makes my face feel like it's suffocating and dries out my skin, so no foundation or primer for me, just tinted moisturizer and light make up on my eyes and lips.

I am having my HMUA use regular makeup. She also offers airbrush but I am looking for a more natural look!

I’m following because I’m interested in what others say.

I’ve had airbrush before as a bridesmaid and loved the completely flawless finish. I just always assumed it was superior and would be everyone’s choice, but I see now that it’s not. I’m interested in the advantages of regular over airbrush.

So far most of the places I’ve researched have been the same price for airbrush or regular makeup, which surprised me. I have always heard airbrush is far superior! I might go that route

I did a trial with my makeup artist and opted for airbrush. It was so light that it ended up looking much more natural than regular makeup which can sometimes go on a little thicker and look more cakey. If you’re having a makeup artist I would suggest talking to her about the style you’re going for and potentially even try out both methods to see which you like better!

I'm doing airbrush. It's the standard option for my makeup vendor, and while they did say regular is an option, airbrush is better in their opinion. Regular makeup can last a long time with setting spray, but airbrush supposedly lasts longer. I assume it's better for photos too, and easier to match foundation to skin tones.

I have an airbrush machine and Love it. However I have blemishes and darker spots that it doesn’t cover so I do a layer of regular foundation and then a light layer of airbrush to give it a flawless cover. I do like the blush and eyeshadow with the airbrush though

I did regular for my trial but ended up booking airbrush. It’s long lasting and I tend to get a pretty oily forehead so airbrush will stay in place longer. And not get cakey

I did trials with both but opted for airbrush the day of. It felt so light and I tend to sweat a lot and the mua said the airbrush would stay longer for me. I loved my look and loved how light it felt. I cried and sweated a little and I think it stayed on pretty well.

My HMUA is doing a trial where she will do half regular half airbrush so I can see which I like better. She sent me a photo of a bride who had it done that way and you couldn’t even tell she had two types on. I’m most likely doing airbrush so I don’t sweat it all off in July!

I prefer airbrush because it has better staying power, better coverage, and doesn't streak if you cry or sweat. However, it is drying so if you have dry skin (which I do) then you will need to prep your skin a couple of months ahead of time with a skin care routine that adds extra moisture. My HMUA recommend Radha Rosehip Oil which I began using at my trial in October for my wedding in December. By the time my wedding came both my HMUA and I noticed the difference. At my trial, my skin was a little flaky with the airbrush makeup but I didn't have that problem at my wedding. In fact, even though I was 41 on my wedding day, my skin looked radiant. Here are some pics of me throughout the day of my wedding so you can see how long it lasted. It still looked so good by the time I went to bed I didn't want to take it off and actually still had my makeup on the next day at my farewell brunch.

I typically only wear eye and lip makeup. For my wedding my hmua did airbrush. At every wedding I have been a part of I had regular makeup and hated it so much. Airbrush was amazing and now I'll never go back

I'm leaning towards airbrush because we are having a outdoor July wedding and I'm worried about regular makeup holding up all day
