After party in the pool!

mellymel, on January 5, 2016 at 9:12 PM Posted in Planning 0 18

So I'm getting married in a hotel that has an indoor pool. It closes at 10 for the hotel guest but being that many of our guests are from OOT the venue manager agreed they will open the pool from 12am until 2 am for my guest only. Everyone loves the idea and I think it will be a lot of fun. So we will end the night in a splash. Of course, this would only be for the guest that are spending the night at the hotel.

It sounds like fun--just as a word of caution, will there be outside lifeguards? If you are having drinking at your wedding, then by the time you get to an after party there could be a fair amount of danger in water. But if there is coverage for safety I imagine your guests will have a great time!

Friends of my parents lost their nephew, because he was drinking alcohol and dove in a pool, and it was too shallow.

I agree with Wildflower Bride, drinking causes inner ear disorientation, most people feel it as dizziness, but underwater it makes a person have an extremely hard time telling which way is up. Many drownings happen when a drunk person swims down trying to get out of the water, because they can't feel they're going the wrong direction.

Sounds like so much fun! But, yeah, I would be concerned about people drinking and swimming.

So fun! Let us know how it goes! My venue is a hotel that also has a pool, but it's outdoors and heated. I thought about doing the same, but I doubt I'll be able to coax many of my guests into the water.

Thanks for the advice. There will definitely be a lifeguard on site. That is a requirement and I wouldn't have it any other way. I plan on stopping the open bar at 11 pm and the reception is over at 12 am. At 11 I have them bringing out a late night snack. We will be serving pizza at that time. I'm a true believer in prevention is better than cure.

I was in a wedding where we did this and it was a blast! I'm jealous that our venue doesn't have a pool!

Thank you ladies! I was at a destination Wedding in the Island of Trinidad for one of my best friend's wedding. The reception was on a resort under a tent and afterwards the reception moved into the pool and I will say that it was by far the best reception I have ever been too. Not to mention the beauty of the Island.
