After Party Ideas

Laura, on February 6, 2020 at 9:29 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 13

Hi y'all! Do you have anything planned as an after party for after the reception? Our wedding party and us are on the younger side and I know we will want the party to continue after the end of reception at 10:30pm. We are trying to debate if its worth the money ($1500) to extend the open bar and reception for an hour so it will end at 11:30pm instead. However, we weren't sure if it would be more worth the money to go to a bar or somewhere else after (maybe the hotel bar?). Let me know what you guys have planned or what you think! I want the vibe to still be classy and fun. We are getting married in Buffalo, NY if anyone is local and has suggestions!

We are of the same mind- we don’t want the party to end after the reception! We decided not to extend the reception, because there’s just no telling how many people will want to keep the party going late into the night (and it seems silly to pay extra for a venue, DJ, bar, etc. if only a handful of people will be there). We are getting married in New Orleans, so we decided to hit Bourbon Street after the reception. Going bar hopping afterward gives people the option of going with or staying behind at the hotel. And then they can choose to stay out as long (or short) as they want. Plus, a change of scenery/vibe I’m thinking will be good after hours at the same place. And it will save a ton of money!

We only had a few people in our wedding left that was interested in extending the party past 11p so that didn't make sense for me to extend the reception. But they had suggested going to a nearby bar. So I think it's ok for you to not extend the reception and bar.

After our wedding we are having an after party a dueling piano bar at our hotel! I think that going to another bar is a great idea because extending the venue is so pricey.

We have a hotel room at a casino 5 minutes away from the wedding venue. Our hardcore partiers will come to the casino to party for the remainder. My best friend is already we're partying all night!!

Our wedding ended at 11 PM then we bused our guests back to the hotel (30 minute drive). Our hotel bar stayed open until 2:30 AM so most people hung out there.

We're getting a party bus for our bridal party after the reception. Our plan now is to have the reception end at 10:30 PM and have the bus loaded and ready to leave at 11 PM. We'll be on there and stop at a few bars before it drops us off at our hotel around 1 AM.

We wanted to have an after party at a fire pit area our venue had but there was no refund if it rained -_- so we just decided to let everyone know within the last 30 min of the reception that we were going to meet at the bar up the block! lots of people came and then we all moved to the hotel bar a little while after

We had an after party scheduled, my husband made it 20 minutes and started to fall asleep. I hear the after party was fun though lol.

I think that is a brilliant idea! We will be doing the same in Old Sacramento. People that want to keep partying can explore the downtown/old town area and others can go back to their rooms to crash.

Our reception ends at 10pm and we're having an after party at a bar about 10 minutes from our hotel and the hotel a majority of our out-of-town guests are staying at. From there, we will also have a few friends come back to my FH and I's hotel suite after the after party to hang out for a little bit.

Hey! I’m from buffalo too! Are you getting married downtown or in the suburbs/what’s near you? We had our wedding at Pearl at the Webb and ended up at pearl street afterwards! A lot of the older crowd went home by 10ish but our bridal party wanted to grab drinks! It was super fun and casual, people kept coming up to congratulate us, including a guy dressed as bacon! (It was the weekend before Halloween lol)
