Advice: wedding program error- should we toss and buy again?

K2020, on February 7, 2020 at 3:12 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 17

Long story kinda short: we have wedding programs listed on fans for guests to use at our wedding in September. Parents of bride and groom, officiant, bridesmaids, and groomsmen are listed on the back. However, we recently decided to have my birth daughter (I gave her up for adoption years ago) to be the flower girl in it.

Since these were already printed, her name is NOT listed on the program. Her family will be at the wedding and I respect them a ton for allowing her to be apart of our big day.

Is this a big deal? Should we toss the fans and buy new with her name added? I cannot imagine a way to have her name listed on them without it looking tacky.

*Attached is a screenshot of what these programs look like for reference. Last names have been colored for privacy*

I wouldn't worry about it honestly. If there was another flower girl or a ring bearer listed, I would reprint because then it would look like she was left out intentionally. In this case, I don't think anyone will think twice about it. But you could always contact the company you ordered from and see if they'd be willing to work something out with you!

Do you have a ring bearer? Because they are also not listed. In that case, I think you would be fine leaving them as they are because it doesn't look like a mistake that only she was left off. If you have no ring bearer and she would be the only one left off, then yes, I would have them re-printed.

If you can afford to, yes. If not - I think you can come up with a way to thank them & her for being a part of your day during the ceremony or reception. Maybe the officiant can say how thankful the two of you are to have her present, or you could say something in your welcome or thank you toast?

If you've got time and room in the budget, I would re-print with her included. Why do you think it would look tacky to have her listed on there?

If you are we have another flower girl I wouldn’t re-print since she is not already listed. I’d just keep the ones already printed.

I would keep them and make a personal note of thanking her and them for being there and being part of your day during the ceremony

I’m saying that I think it would look tacky if I added her name myself/tried to alter these using pen etc. I don’t think it would look tacky to have her name added by the designer/get them re-printed.

I would, especially because you have enough time. I’m getting married in 12 days and a groomsman can no longer be a part of our wedding so I’m going to redo all of our program fans to eliminate the talk about where he is.

I probably wouldn’t. Most people probably won’t even notice. As a guest, I never read those things anyway.

    Update for everyone:

I reached out to Zazzle customer service regarding this dilemma and they are crediting the money back to my account to buy new fans with her name added AND gave me a 50% promo code as well for them. I really couldn't ask for a better resolution to this. Thank you for all of your input and I highly recommend using Zazzle for your wedding!

I would too - the cost will be nothing compared to the feelings of her her parents and someday, her, for not having her name included.

And PS - you did not "give her up" you chose not to parent and made a selfless decision.

    Best wishes!
