Advice please

Monique, on August 1, 2019 at 6:20 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11
I was wondering how to go about staying something to the person who is supposed to do my hair. She is my regular hair lady I have been going to for several years now. I had no reservations about asking her to be my stylist. However I recently saw on fb that she is selling her business because she wants to travel half the year. She did say she would stay on as a stylist to help the transition. She has not mentioned anything about this to me. I feel like I need To ask her if she is planning on being here in December. I won’t lie my heart dropped when I saw the post because I am super worried about being without a stylist or having to search last minute. Would you say something or just wait to see? If you would say something how would you word it without being rude or accusatory?

"So and so I saw you are selling to travel. That's pretty amazing I'm really happy for you, I'll miss you so much. Do you have a time frame? I love you so much and was going to see if you'd do my wedding day hair in December."

She is going to be getting a lot of questions and comments about having to find a new stylist, don't stress about it

Just nicely ask her in conversation...Say “Hey I noticed that you’re going to be traveling and whatnot” can I still count on you for my big day? If she seems iffy at that point I would start researching a back up plan.

I'd just say that you saw the post and wanted to check in that you're still on her schedule.

Definitely double check! Reach out to her with something like, "I saw your FB post. Just wondering if you're still able to do my hair for my wedding!"

I would wish her well on her travels and do a friendly inquisition .

" Hey xxxxxx how exciting to hear that you have decided to sell and see the world, I'm selfishly concerned because I love your services and will miss you terribly. will you still be available to make me look amazing on my special day?

I think something like this is perfect! And even if she isn’t able to do your hair, maybe she’ll know someone who she can recommend to help you out (I totally get not wanting anyone else doing your hair though lol, I’m super picky too!)
