Advice on Using Sparklers Other then Send off

JackieD, on September 14, 2018 at 11:26 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 9

We aren't doing a send off as we will be at our reception until the end. However, we want to do photos with sparklers since we are getting married at night. Any ideas on how to incorporate that and get guests outside to light the sparklers? We thought about using them for our entrance into the reception venue (we are having the ceremony in a church and the reception in a barn), but then how would that work with announcing us and the wedding party? We also thought about doing it after dinner. Our theme is rustic and casual. Any ideas and suggestions would be welcomed.

My fiance proposed to me while 4500 people around us were holding lit sparklers. We used them in our engagement photos and they really are a huge party of "Our story" so after the ceremony we are going have a nearest and dearest join us outside to take some shots with sparklers.

I am not sure if there really is a good way to do this that wouldn't annoy the guests.

I think the only way this could work, would be to have them light the sparklers after the ceremony, do a "grand exit" from the chapel, then go to a space other than your reception venue, maybe a getting ready space? Hang out in there for a bit. Then do your grand entrance into the reception??

Otherwise I think you should do the more traditional grand exit and leave your reception 20 minutes early to get the photo. Don't do it after dinner, people want to relax and dance then, not go outside and take a photo.

Thanks! You made a good point about not doing it after dinner. I'm leaning towards doing it as we exit the church or enter the reception venue.

We did when we noticed people were starting to leave. The DJ announced that we wanted to light some sparklers, didn't really call it an exit I don't think.

We did our thing, those that were ready to leave, left, those that weren't come back in to party.

You can do your entrance into the reception more spectacular and make pictures and video, and then you don’t need to take your guests back and forth. Make it easy. Also sparkles will burn someone, but the sparks on the link, never.

Why not a pic at the end of the night with everyone who is still there?

We just had a small handful of people sneak away while the party was going, no need to line up 90 people...just grab 10 or so, enough for a group photo (maybe even just bridal party/parents etc) it goes by much quicker and is a lot easier to organize..looks just as cute!
