Advice on rescheduling for june

Anna, on April 20, 2020 at 11:09 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 9
So we’re currently set on June 7th of this year and our venue still hasn’t reached out about updates or postponing.. should I reschedule or hope for the best? We have about 200 guests

I think it depends on where you’re having it. We are in TN and just cancelled our May 23 wedding with 200 people and are now just eloping with immediate family. We felt safer to just cancel and luckily our vendors have been very understanding. Does your state have any plans to lift restrictions soon?

We moved our date, because of everything. April 2022 is our new date. I would reschedule unless you want to elope? Totally up to you.

My advice would be start talking about what your plan b looks like, get some new dates and talk to your vendors about what your options are. In my opinion, it is a lot easier to wrap your head around moving your wedding once you start to see some of the details.

Sorry this is happening to you we sadly just had to move our May 24th wedding.

I’m in upstate NY, and extended to May 15th which worries my that everything won’t be back to normal by June.. I’m also juggling between keeping the venue on my date and just changing the guest count to30

Hey girl I am from upstate NY as well. Our wedding was supposed to be June 20th. We decided to postpone till May 15th 2021. With the shelter in place being till May 15th I felt very unsafe with our wedding. The only thing to take into consideration is that May15th could be pushed for another two weeks or more. We also had about 10 guest coming from NYC; this could cause a lot of problems. Though it was heartbreaking for us to make this decision it was truly best for the health of our family and friends. I want people to enjoy the wedding and dance the night away instead of being scared of the “what if’s”. I would definitely look into a backup date and make a list of pros and cons to help you make a decision. Best of luck ❤️

You’re definitely right, it’s just such a heartbreaking decision to make on top of we’re not sure if we’ll get much of our deposits back. But it’s for sure the safer call on behalf of everyone traveling. Hope all your planning goes smooth and you have a beautiful wedding 🥰

    Hi Anna,

That's really a tough spot, Anna. Are you hoping to reschedule to a time when you're more confident your guests will be able to attend, or do you plan to go ahead in June if you can? Would you consider doing a live stream online for any guests who can't attend in person? Or are you reviewing your contracts to see what your postponement options might be?

It may help you make your decision if you can connect with other couples planning June weddings - June 2020 Weddings - How's everyone feeling?

    Good luck whIH-pZc0aWJOuBTAdAY5VNyGrZ8aBykYcgA-jFo

I would definitely start thinking of a back up plan. I am set for July 18th and we will already have under 50 people and that even scares me. With the gathering restrictions anything this summer seems like a a guessing game. I believe May and the beginning of June is going to be a testing phases for many states to re-open. With the federal guidelines with Phases 1-3, your state would need to be at Phase 3 by June and at this point I know many stay at home orders for many states are stretching into middle of May. I would just reach out to your venue and see what they have to say. I am keeping my date right now and praying that May and June brings more clarity, but I did speak with my venue and have have let me keep my name on the calendar for November 1st as a back up, at least until someone else is interested in the date, at that point I would have to make the ultimate decision. Remember a lot of social distancing restrictions will still be in place for a while and it will all depend on how you visioned your 200 guest wedding! I am praying for you and all the other brides going through all the unknowns and trying to decide what to do! I wish you the best of luck!
