Has anyone had an adventure elopement? This is Plan C for my fiance and I if our rescheduled date of November 28 doesn't allow for our planned wedding. I'm pretty obsessed with these epic pictures! Contenders on my list so far are Yosemite (though Glacier Point and Taft Point may be closed by the end of November), the Hoh Rainforest in Olympic National Park, and Limekiln State Park in Big Sur, CA. Does anyone have any other amazing locations for late November that have epic photography locations in the continental US? Has anyone done one of these amazing elopements? Give me all the epicness!

Ohhh boy do I 🤣 They are mostly pictures that our venue posted. I get lost in Instagram based on tags from our venue and then the chain of photographers in their stories! So many good locations! This is getting me so excited lol. I originally wanted to go into the park for pics like this on the day of our wedding, but the photographer said she didn't think we would have time because it would keep the guests waiting at cocktail hour too long. I figure if we at least go take pictures this fall, I'll get to wear my dress and get the photos of my dreams in the mountains and also save time on the wedding day!! We are going to make it a little romantic weekend getaway! If you want to get lost in the same photos, our venue is the one below dellaterramountainchateau and our photographer is marymeckweddings!! With COVID, I feel like there are no rules or norms or social clock. Just came to this realization, lol. Do what makes you happy, no one can judge or tell you you did it wrong. We are civilly married, this was supposed to be out families meeting each other and our church wedding. if we didn't basically elope already, we would do it now. Deciding to do things our way is such a relief!!! Good luck!!Adventure Elopements 1

Probably not on our wedding day, but I love the idea of traveling there for an adventure shoot! Lake Tahoe is also where he proposed so it has meaning to us 🥰

So pretty! I’ve spent HOURS on Instagram browsing pictures of locations and photographers. 😂 This is our Plan C if Plan B doesn’t work. We’ve already been engaged for 2 years, and FH really doesn’t want to wait until next year to say “I Do”. An adventure elopement with epic photos is the only thing I said I’d be happy with if we couldn’t have our wedding as it’s currently planned.

You should totally do it! (Even as a 1 year anniversary present/trip!) One is my bridesmaids is from Tahoe, and I’ve always told her I’d love to go visit her hometown with her one day!

The advantage of a Colorado elopement is that we don’t require any witnesses or an officiant, so it’s super simple. In November, you’d find a good amount of snow in the mountains, which can be stunning but doesn’t seem like the vibe you’re looking for 🤷‍♀️.

My mom did suggest Telluride as a potential location as we have family and friends that live there...but I’m a born and raised So Cal girl who doesn’t really do the best in snow. Haha. Colorado (and Wyoming) have both crossed my mind, however!

When I see epic Colorado winter wedding pictures all I think is BRRR! Lol! Our photographer told us about a couple that did a winter elopement and the bride got mild frostbite- they had amazing pictures, but that’s a bit too extreme for me!

Yeah. I would definitely be a popsicle! I remember camping in Zion in October when I was in high school and having purple fingertips after cleaning the breakfast dishes! I don't know if I'm willing to do that for pictures, no matter how amazing they would be!

We are doing an adventure elopement! I HIGHLY recommend Adventure Instead for photography - AND they are ordained officiants, in case you need one - and they are willing to travel all over.

Thank you for the suggestion. We already have an amazing pair of photographers, but hopefully that recommendation can help someone else searching!

I follow Adventure Instead on Instagram and they have some beautiful photos. They were out of our budget but I definitely stalk photos for inspiration.

I honestly wouldn’t have thought of it prior to COVID. But after two years of being engaged, we don’t want to wait until next year. If it doesn’t look like the original plan will work on the new date (and being realistic, it’s not looking like it will at this point), this was the plan I felt happy with. You could always do a fun shoot wherever you go on your honeymoon!

Sounds amazing! Hopefully things go as planned and maybe we will get to travel to our honey moon destination next year. We will be driving somewhere this year instead.

I live in AZ. We are driving to Colorado and Utah figured we would hide out in the mountains.

Oh man! You could get some epic pictures in both locations! Maroon Bells in Colorado is incredible and have you looked at Zion or Bryce adventure shots? Some incredible landscapes out there.

We picked rocky mountain national park because wasn't sure where else to go and thought would be less snow near there. Utah we will be staying in Moab but for sure want to go to Zion and Bryce!! Hope this will be a fun adventure. Not quite tropical but romantic mountains is really more our style anyway. I hope we get some great pics!

I love it! Our planned honeymoon is a tour around Ireland, Scotland, and England, so I’m definitely with you on the adventure rather than the beach (we also live in So Cal, so we can do a beach whenever).
