Adults Only Reception

Andrea, on March 16, 2017 at 8:43 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

My FH and I are getting married in September and want to order our wedding invitations. Any advice on how to word invitations to get the point across that it's adults only?

You address them to Mr. and Mrs. So and So versus The So and So Family.

On the RSVP card, you say, "2 Seats Reserved in Your Honor" and "__ out of 2 attending."

It's in poor taste to mention on the invitations who isn't invited.

I am having the same in July and when I send my save the date out I only put the adults name. For the invitation I am only putting the adults name and the RSVP number will be only the adults.. but then again we have no kids so we been saying no kids long time to everyone..

I personalized the meal selection card by the invited guests names. I've also posted on the wedding website that children under 10 aren't permitted with the exception of nursing mothers.

Inner envelope addressed to Mr and mrs...don't put the kids. Word will get out no kids. It's common. Don't sweat it.

Is it appropriate to put "Adult reception to follow?" on the invitation?

I'm putting "Cocktail hour, Adult Reception and Dancing to Follow"... People will get the hint they shouldnt RSVP to include their children. Smiley smile

I put "Adults only, please." under the reception. Some people have gotten offended, and some have RSVPd with their kids anyways.

I've heard that you aren't supposed to say anything.

My friend had on her invitation a few years ago and it sounded really nice and was in her words. Something along the lines of "While we adore your children, the festivities are adult only..." I don't remember what else. It was like two sentences. I was not offended that my son was not invited nor would I have assumed he would have been even if she didn't put that. I pay attention to who the invitation is addressed to.

I have another friend who put it on her wedding website.
