Addressing Invitations Without Inner Envelope

Connie, on June 24, 2016 at 10:36 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

Good evening, all! I am using pocket folds and decided against getting inner envelopes. How do I address invitations to indicate that children and guests are invited? For example, would something like "The Smith Family" be appropriate, or should I put "Mr. And Mrs. Smith" and just let them assume children are coming? Also, do I put "and Guest" on the invitation as well? "John Smith and Guest"

I don't know how relevant it is, but it is a fairly formal evening wedding. We've just mailed the envelopes to the calligrapher, so now I'm trying to decide what to have her write! I'm awful at this stuff. Thanks in advance!

I would put "The Smith Family." If you just put the parents, it would signal that only the parents are invited, although that didn't stop some people from RSVPing with kids to our adults only wedding.

I'm in the same boat! I'm not doing inner envelopes because I'm doing the pocket too. def put the family when addressing it! you don't want people to wonder whos invite and whos not! I'm still unsure how to handle the guest part! so far ive come up with buying just inner envelopes for the ones with "guests" but for guests who we know who they are, such as our friend and their "guest" is their fiancé or long term boyfriend/girlfriend, we addressed the invites with both their names on it

Mr & Mrs John Smith and Family is the way I've always seen it done.

Kimi, I like that wording! What do you think about adding "and guest" when applicable?

Unfortunately, our RSVP Cards don't have a number of seats option. :/ we tried to add it but we couldn't. I wish that were the case! I might just have the guest's name on there and let them know individually that a plus 1 is ok.

We're using rsvp card to indicate who is invited.
