Addressing envelope to doctors

Powers2, on March 10, 2017 at 11:09 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 25

I have a close friend that is a physician. Her spouse is also a physician. They hyphenated their last names when they married.

I'm seeing a few different ways to address the envelopes in this case, but I'm wondering which looks most correct?

Drs. Jones-Smith

Or

Dr Mary Smith- Jones and Dr Emily Smith-Jones

Thanks!

We didn't do our titles on our invites at all, just names. So, ours would have been "Mary Smith and Emily Jones".

Either one is fine but I'd do the first one for the sake of space.

    ETA: punctuation

Either is correct! I like the look of the first better though

We did "Drs. Smith" for the couple who are both doctors on our guest list.

What about: Drs. Mary and Emily Smith-Jones ? Don't know if that's correct but I feel like it's less redundant than the second one.

I would write it out: "The Doctors Smith-Jones"

Thanks all, I have a while before I have to actually address anything but this has been on my mind.

IMO, there are two choices. 1. The Doctors Smith-Jones or 2. Dr. Mary Smith-Jones and Dr. Emily Smith-Jones

For the sake of space, I might go with the first choice.

Edited: I transposed the two last names.

We have a married couple of reverends on our guest list and we went with "the reverends last name" - they said when they got married they got a kick out of things addressed like that - so I used it.

The correct etiquette I have seen for this is:

    The Doctors Jones-Smith

We will both be doctors, me before the wedding and him after - we prefer 'the doctors lastname'
