Adding a second photographer?

Hey all! It's almost time for us to pay the balance due to our photographer and I'm debating with myself whether we should add a second photographer. I've gone back and forth on this for awhile and can't decide. It's $400 to add the second photographer. Our current package includes unlimited coverage on the wedding day - so the first (and possibly only) photographer would be with us from getting ready until we leave the venue. Part of me really likes the idea of a different photography style, getting more shots and angles, etc., but the other part isn't sure if it's a waste.

Did anyone else add another photographer? Did you think it was worth it or is it really not necessary?

A second shooter was a must have for me. I wanted someone with me the whole time for getting ready/bridesmaid/parent photos and someone with my FH for the same. And, it allows for different perspectives when they're both together. They can get two angles!

We're having 1. I'm excited to be able to see my ceremony from all angles!

I think it depends on the size of wedding you are having. If you are having a larger wedding I would say for $400.00 I would do it. That way somebody is catching all those beautiful moments from another angle.

We are opting for a second photographer as well. Ours was only an additional four hundred dollars too and it seemed worth it. I feel like this way we can have one photographer for the guys and one for the girls when we're getting ready. And we also have multiple angles for the ceremony and reception.

I think it's totally worth it! When I walk down the aisle I want pictures of me and then my FHs reaction and that's not something you can get with one photographer. If it's in your budget I would definitely do it Smiley smile

My daughter had a husband wife team and they were

Fantastic. While one was shooting pics of dancing, introductions etc...the other was taking pics of things like decorations...pieces that resembled the letters

Of their last name (they made a beautiful picture with them and gave it to them as a gift)...so I think 2 if you can afford it is an awesome idea!

It's definitely worth it! Especially since the second photographer will be able to get pictures of your FH getting ready and hanging out with his GM and you'll still have your getting ready shots and when you're doing your pictures after the ceremony they'll be able to capture photos of your cocktail hour. For only $400 I say do it!

For $400, I think it's totally worth it. We have hired a second photographer, and I know it will be worth every penny. Think of it this way: the second photographer will capture all the things that your main photographer cannot. While your photographer is taking pictures of you and your bridal party getting ready, the second can take pictures of the groom and his groomsmen. While the main photographer is getting set-up before the ceremony, the second can take photos of your reception area (if in the same location) before it's completely demolished by the guests. LOL. This was big for me because I really want to see our ballroom all done up before guests are in the room. Our tables, place settings, florals, etc... I want to see the beauty. Smiley smile Not to mention all of the other moments in which a second angle will be awesome. Such as first kiss... main photographer takes a photo of you and hubby while second takes pictures of your guests' responses. Do it, do it, do it!! Smiley smile

It's definitely worth it! There are certain photos that would be missed with just one photographer.

We're having 2 photographers as well. Just think about how 1 person can't be in 2 places (while getting ready, cocktail hour, etc). You might miss some great shots. Plus it's good peace of mind to have a back up.

If photography is important to you, you should absolute add the second photographer.

If you're just kind of like "meh, I'm having a photographer because I have to" then skip it.

Photography was extremely important to me. We actually had three photographers through the ceremony, two at the start of the reception, then my final photographer left just before the end of the reception.

I agree with the majority. A 2nd shooter was a must have for us and it already proved beneficial for our engagement session. I'm not worried about clashing styles either (mine are a husband and wife duo) and I don't think that would be an issue. Professionals know their style and who they could work well with. I'm sure they've worked with the second shooter before. Also $400 is so cheap! Do it! Smiley smile
