Adding a belt to dress

Alterations question. I plan to wear a small jeweled belt with my dress, but I'm clueless how they are put on the dress. I haven't found the belt yet because I'm not sure what I'm supposed to look for. Are belts sewed directly onto the dress or do brides tie them on? I feel like seeing the tied bow...

I haven't found the belt yet because I'm not sure what I'm supposed to look for. Are belts sewed directly onto the dress or do brides tie them on? I feel like seeing the tied bow in the back would look very strange. And it might move around throughout the day needing adjustment. But if they do sew on belts, is there a certain kind im supposed to get? Help!

    I had no plans on attaching my belt to my dress but after my alterations appointment they convinced me to attach it. I am so glad they did because if it would have moved all day it would have bothered me.

    Mine was tacked on. It held the belt in place to ensure it didn't move around and such but it kept the ribbon on to tie around my dress. Which was fine with me because I liked the look of it tied in the back.

    @asyouwish it is from David's! I originally chose a different one (I attached a picture)but after an hour of trying every belt on in the store with my dress I realized this was the one! It couldn't have been more perfect :-) It's crazy how one accessory can change the whole look of a dress.

    I'm fighting with the same thing! I love the look of the bow tied in the back but it kind of covered the buttons on my low back dress which I absolutely love as well! Tough choice....

    @Peach Snapple, I had a really hard time finding a belt I liked, but I found a rose gold headband I loved. My seamstress is going to retool it a bit and sew it directly onto the waistband of my dress

    I got my belt sewed on the dress. I hated the how the bow looked in the back.
