Acne Scars! What do I do??

DENETRICE, on April 5, 2011 at 8:40 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 14

I have acne scars almost everywhere, talk about bad skin I got it the only thing that worked for me was Neutrogena but the product that was working they took it off the market. Pro Active makes me darker and clean and clear clears up the pimples but not the scars. Should I try covering it with make up maybe bare minerals?? But I dont want a make up that will get on my FH tux because it will be an all white tux. Help Please....

I have the same problem, I break out everywhere..there are products out there that help fade acne scars or there is always laser treatment. I am considering that myself ..if i could afford it Smiley surprise. If you have "sephora' around you sometimes the consultants in the store could help find a product that would work good for your skin....Good luck Smiley smile

I'd recomend getting a series of glycolic peels prior to the wedding day. It will help reduce the appearance of the scars.

I'd also be making a trip to the dermatologist to get some things that will work for you and some advice.

For your wedding day- DO NOT use mineral makeup! It photographs absolutely horribly and shiny! I'd hire a very talented make up artist who will do airbrush makeup. It will make you look flawless!

Airbrush foundation, professionally applied will work wonders on acne scars for your wedding day.

I have acne scars and use bareminerals and swear by it! I know how you're feeling girl. Stick to bareminerals and spot correct any new pimples or super dark spots with concealer, and you should be good to go

I suggest seeing a dermatologist. I use Tazorac in combination with Clinique's 3 step acne system it works really well for me and controls my acne and fades acne scars. With Tazorac you have to put moisturizer on 45 minutes before you put Tazorac on . If you don't your skin will be overly dry. Some people complain about but it has done wonders for me I saw results within days after using it. If you do go with a dermatologist and they prescribe something for you be patient , it takes time for it most of the medications to work.

I have also had chemical peels in the past that are also good and I could actually see the difference in my skin. Now is a good time to start working on your skin , you have plenty of time before your wedding. Some simple things to try are drinking lots of water, get plenty of rest , and start a daily regime that includes a cleanser, toner, and moisturizer. As far as Bare Minerals makeup I have never used it.

I would suggest dermabrasion/chemical peels. They're meant to work wonders with acnes scarring! Otherwise, perhaps see a dermatologist and ask for 'steroid tape'. It's like a sticky strip that you apply to scars and it helps to reduce them. I'm in the UK but I got this for a keloid scar and it helped a little but keloids are terrible to shift - only other thing I could do is steroid injections but i'm terrified of needles! I do apply the steroid tape to pimples though and they practically disappear overnight!!!

I have the same problem. Baking soda as an exfoliant works well, but it's harsh and I wouldn't recommend using it often, maybe twice a week max. Scoop about 1-2 teaspoons into the palm of your hand, add a few drops of warm water, and rub on your face like you would facewash. Rinse off and pat dry. Afterwards use a natural moisturizer like PURE vitamin E (buy the capsules and prick them with a needle, then squeeze out the oil and apply it to your face) or aloe vera. Good luck and keep us posted on what works for you!

I would recommend finding a dr. as they can prescribe something that can clear your skin. My dr prescribed me Accutane since I had severe acne that was almost 2 years ago and my skin has never been clearer. It cleared not only the acne but some severe scaring it left behind. I still have some marks but I have been using Ambi fade cream on those specific areas and it seems to be working well. I also have been taking Biotin and Vitamin E as those are supposed to help as well.

I use a three step system from Clinique and I love it. I started getting acne when I was 25 and this seems to be the only thing that does not overly dry out my skin. It cleared up my face rather quickly. I also used their acne foundation with Salicylic Acid until I was all cleared up. I then switched to Bare Minerals and love it!!

As far a make up to cover it up. I suggest Benefit. It's a bit pricy but its worth it. I also have acne that needs to be covered up and this stuff works great! There is a concealer, foundation, and an all over powder. It provides great coverage and almost gives you and air brushed looked. I used to be a faithful Bare Minerals user but Benefit's products top the charts in my book!
