Accommodation for Guests, Help!

Trinity, on February 6, 2020 at 9:37 AM Posted in Planning 0 5

Hello All,

We are having our wedding in a hotel, so blocked 10 rooms for our guests. Most of my fiance's guests will be traveling out of state; however, he said the hotel rate is too expensive, and the guests will look into Airbnb, etc. I am somewhat confused with WeddingWire Checklist about reserving rooms for my guests. Do I need to do more room blocks at another hotel, motel, etc.? Or is the 10 rooms inside the hotel good enough, and the guests will just have to find places to stay if they don't want to live in the hotel?

Thank you!

Having made a hotel block and making sure the link to the block is noted on the wedding website, etc. for guests to access is plenty. Of course, when you were researching hotels for your hotel block, I'm assuming you were looking at hotels that were budget friendly while still in a safe location, good reputation, etc.

Guests will definitely look at other hotels and Airbnb's but that's on them to coordinate Smiley smile y'all are good!!

All you can do is make a hotel block and inform people of it. If they don't want to stay there then that is their prerogative. You don't need to help them out if they choose to stay elsewhere.

If you have a lot of out of town guests, you can always look into another hotel as well with a lower price. This way you are giving options to people in different price ranges. That's what we did for our hotel blocks. We wanted all of our guests to have different hotel/price options.

We had two hotel blocks. Our main one was nicer and we stayed there ($120 per night) and a cheaper one ($80 per night) close by.

You did enough by setting up one block of rooms. If people choose to go elsewhere, that is on them. You did a kind thing and set up a block.
