Acapella wedding music?!??

Kalliope, on December 17, 2019 at 2:39 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 6

I'm looking for arrangements of instrumental music for voice. I know that's a difficult ask, but we're getting married in a venue that doesn't allow instruments (it's a Church of Christ thing), and i've always dreamed of a string quartet. I've looked on youtube but have been severely disappointed by what I find. I'm thinking like the Pentatonix arrangement of Sugarplum Fairy (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jt3oAyK_IG8), except I need something for a summer wedding ha! I've found Humming from Madam Butterfly (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrCdwPE6EsA) and that's close. Any suggestions????

Honestly if you have a college of music by you I'd look into hiring a music student to transpose it.

H and I attend a church of Christ and got married at the one we met in. We were able to have recorded instrumental music played at our ceremony for the processional and recessional. As long as it's not a "real" church service, they didn't have an issue with us doing so. I would double check and see if instrumental only would be okay!

We asked our elders, they said the original elders of our congregation were really stringent about non-vocals in the building and our current elders wanted to honor that for the sake of not causing a stumbling block for anyone. I have no problems with it, besides it being inconvenient lol. If I don't find what I'm envisioning, I'll be plenty happy with some acapella arrangements of pop songs too!

I'm actually just trying to put together a rain back-up. Plan A is to get married outside and we'll have live string musicians play! It'd be really cool to find vocal versions of whatever we pick for them for Plan B.

Something similar has already been mentioned, but if you are near any university, many colleges will have male, female, and mixed acapella groups that are beautiful! This could be a really good option to look into Smiley smile
