That’s kind of a cute idea actually

Everything you've described does not really sound subtle--it sounds like an overtly themed Sound of Music wedding. I'm not saying that's a bad thing. Themed weddings in general are not my personal taste, but if that's what you and your FH are into, then by all means you should go for it. Is your FH into the Sound of Music as well? I think that would be important to know. Themed weddings can work well, but only if both couples are into the theme

Thank you for the perspective! I guess I had considered it more subtle than it actually is, so that's something for us to consider. Either way, we would be serving some Von Trappe food and drinks (meat, cheese, and beer) because they are locally made and regularly served at our venue.

If you haven’t bought your dress, look up dirndl style wedding dresses.

I think this is really cute if done well! It just has to be really coordinated to make it look like a formal, pretty wedding and not a birthday party.

Is isn't, but it is nearby at Sugarbush Resort. I love the lodge so much, but they couldn't fit my entire guest list, so I want to borrow some of their charm for my event

Completely agree. I'm hoping to have some things that fans of the movie would pick up on, but not so much that it would seem out of place. Something like these shoes with little white flowers don't strike me as raising eyebrows from non-fans, but would make me very happy. Also, having my flower girls in dresses with blue satin sashes and playing some instrumental music.

I love it! My daughter goes to college in Burlington so we go to the VonTrapp Brew Pub all the time!
