I…don’t see the horror? You get one wedding day, not a whole month.

There’s definitely a nightmare here and it doesn’t sound like it’s your cousin and his fiancée lol.

It’s not much that it’s how they did right after we sent a save the date. You be furious too

I agree with Caytlyn. There is absolutely nothing wrong with your cousin scheduling their wedding a week before yours. People are more than capable of being excited for and celebrating more than one couple. I also can't imagine the overlap extends to more than a handful of people unless you have a HUGE family, which would only strengthen the idea of there being more than enough love to go around.

I don't think it would take the focus off of you at all on your wedding day. It is absolutely possible - and common - for people to have excitement for multiple people at the same time. Your cousin could have picked that date for any number of reasons - it worked best with their personal schedules, their venue didn't have much availability and that was the most convenient date available, they got a great deal for that date, etc. People will definitely still be just as excited for your wedding! Some of your guests might be attending other weddings the weekend before or after yours, but that really shouldn't impact their excitement for your wedding. If you were attending two different weddings on two consecutive weekends, would you feel less excited for one of them just because it was the weekend before/after another wedding?

I don't mean this in any disrespectful way, I'm just not sure how else to phrase this - I'm confused as to how you sending a save the date for your wedding means that they cannot pick a date for their wedding?

I think what she’s saying is she feels her cousin purposely picked that date after seeing her save the date.

Are the weddings local? If so it shouldn’t be a huge deal. If many guests have to travel for one or both I can see the frustration because they might not be able to go to both then.

I think the point of the post was to see if others have stories to share. If OP feels this way about her situation, that's okay too.

Not really, I've been pretty blessed but my wedding is immediate family only so not too many people to worry about lol. My mom did say my handwriting was too sloppy on my invites envelopes but thats just her nature lol.

Honestly if they shared the date right after receiving your save the date, I’d expect that that means they already had the date booked and your save the date made them realize they had to get the word out there to help people plan

Well we have been completely cut off by an immediate family member for planning our wedding before they had picked a date (we got engaged first--not that it matters) and they are mad our date is the same YEAR as theirs. So they refuse to come to our wedding and we are apparently not invited to theirs. It's been really traumatic and devastating. In COVID times, options are limited. We had hoped to already be married by now but it was pushed back b/c of the pandemic.
