a reception dress?

Are any of you buying a second dress to wear at your reception? My dress is kind of heavy, I am not sure if I want to do that.....

My ceremony was in August and my party is Saturday I’m using the same dress since it cost a good amount of money so I’m getting use of it twice over just 3 hours.

Yes! I absolutely love my wedding dress, but it has a very long train and there is no way I will be able to dance in that comfortably. Also, I want the dancing portion of the wedding to be a very red carpet moment for me LOL so I’m getting a second dress. Its the long dress. They were completely sold out of the short dress, so I had to order the long dress and they are cutting it into the short dress. But the pageant seamstress at the boutique said she could make it detachable, so I’m praying that goes well Lol but I am so excited to wear this dress because I have loved it for so longa reception dress? 1

I’m thinking about getting a second dress too. Not to wear for the whole reception but for the grand exit part. For the reception, I’ll have my wedding dress bustled but when we’re about to do our grand exit, I would change into the second dress so I could be a little more comfortable in the car to the hotel from the venue.

This is such a cool dress! Do you mind sharing the brand/style?

I'm torn. I love my wedding dress but we eloped last year (Covid) and are having our wedding celebration this year. Most people didn't see my dress and I definitely want to wear it again, but also want to surprise my husband with something he hasn't seen before.

I did not. I loved my wedding dress so much, I did not want to take it off! Plus, for what it costs, I wanted to get as much wear out of it as possible!

Not planning on it. I may get a new wrap or coat to add on top since we are having a winter wedding but that would be the only wardrobe change post-ceremony. My dress is comfortable and easy to move in so I see no reason to change for dancing, eating, or the car ride after we leave. I want to wear my dress for as long as possible!

I didn't for many reasons like

    1. i was lazy to change

    2. i figured you'll never really wear a wedding dress again so i wanted to keep it on as long as i could

    3. didn't wanna spend more money for another gown

but honestly i can see the appeal of getting another gown to change into cause a wedding gown is kind of heavy and cumbersome, so a shorter dress would be easier to move around in

I'm definitely getting a second dress.

I want the long pretty gown for the ceremony, but when we get to the reception I want to be able to move and have a good time.

Below is prospectively my ceremony dress...

I don't really want anything elaborate for either. The reception dress is just about something cute and being able to move.

I bought a second dress to reflect my straight-forward style for afterhours, but I plan to wear it for the rehearsal dinner also. Then, after I had a meeting with the Church, I realized my first dress may be too revealing (very long cut for DDD), so I may wear the more covered 2nd dress for the ceremony as well. I'm okay with both because I love both-- the first is more romantic and dramatic. I will take pictures with my parents in both.

I actually will be getting a third for a traditional Chinese tea ceremony. Smiley smile

You do you, if this falls into your vision.
