9 days to wedding & I have a raised rash on my face!

Patricia, on June 17, 2011 at 9:16 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13

II'm in tears! I'd been using Alba Organic Green Tea & Aloe face lotion intermittedly for the past 2-3 wks (SUPPOSEDLY hypoallergenic). This past week or so I started using it more often. I noticed some itching and irritation on my face, bridge of nose, ears and one spot on my neck, but chocked it up to allergies or nerves and with all I have going on with the wedding and a sick puppy, didn't put 2 &2 together until yesterday. It's now a full-blown raised rash- red, irritated, itchy... irregular, across the bridge of my nose, on 1 nostril the upper & inside edges of my eyes, and vertically down the right side of my cheek (the left side of my neck has a spot too). To make me feel worse, 2cruel women at work couldn't help remarking in mock concern. I took 2 Benadryl last night and this morning applied some hydrocortisone cream, but I'm worried it won't go away in time for the wedding. Any nurses or aestheticians out there??? HELP!!!

I'd start with a cool washcloth, and a Xanax if you have any LOL. It could actually be more related to stress, than the face lotion - especially if you've been using it for more than a week - usually allergic reactions will pop out pretty quickly. Stop using it, use a cold washcloth at night and in the morning, and if you get desperate get some hemorrhoid cream. Seriously, it does wonders for redness and puffiness!

Get thee to a dermatologist. Topical Rx steroids (who knows, maybe oral) are stronger and more effective than anything you can buy OTC and will probably do the trick. Excuse my bluntness, but screw those co-workers. Put it in a doctor's hands and try to stop worrying about it - you want less adrenaline, not more!

I think if you call and beg and say you're new to the area and your wedding is in 9 days, someone will take pity on you. They should!

If a dermatologist will not take you go to a quick care of an emergency room. They will at least give you a medication to get rid of it. Stop stressing so much though because I am sure that is not helping in the healing process. Not knowing your skin type, tone, or your allergies, it is hard to say what exactly would help. I will say that taking benadryl is a good step. FH gets allergic rashes all the time as he has very sensitive skin.

I would see a dermatologist asap...ALSO I would just only wash your face with water for the time being...applying anything else could just be makig the irritation worse.

I agree- dermatologist it is! Benadryl won't do it. It will help, but not clear it. You make need a steroid shot/cream to kick it into high gear.

If you can't get in to a dermatologist- try an urgent care clinic. It's not an ER, who will laugh at you coming in over a rash you've had for a few days. Or a Family Practice doc...

I have the same thing! I thought my face and neck were breaking out super bad and I have never had acne in my life so I went to the doctor yesterday. Sure enough it's a rash. He gave me some steriod cream, I put it on last night and half the rash is less raised and the redness is already gone. He said it will take 7-10 days to completely clear. Depending on your area go to a take care clinic in target. They can help you out and fast!

This happened to me too! Actually, it was full blown on the day that my FH proposed to me! I used an all natural face mask from Lush that apparently had cinnamon in it. I thought, hey, it's natural, what the heck. It became raised, itchy, and little blisters formed. I felt awful! I got in immediately to the dermatologist and they actually gave me a shot of cortisone in my side. I was told to just use Cetaphil cleanser and Cetaphil lotion with some Advil and Benadryl for the inflammation and itching...it eventually went down, but took about a week. Mine was SUPER horrible, so yours should be fine by the time the wedding comes around. I HIGHLY recommend getting a cortisone shot, though. That did wonders for me.

I broke out in hives prior to my 1st wedding. I ended up being put on Prednisone on for a week. It cleared it right up. Contact your doctor.

I broke out with acne during all my preparations for my wedding. i visited the dermetologist and he injected each pimple so I didn;t have to huge bumps on my face, but did stay with some discoloration Smiley sad thank goodness for good makeup artist!

I agree that you should visit either a dermatologist or a quick-care clinic (less expensive than the ER, usually). Calm down--I've had that kind of reaction over almost my entire body due to allergies, and oral steroids cleared it up within days. They DO make you pretty jumpy, though! If you're DIYing anything, do it on the meds, bc you won't be sleeping! lol
