9 Days Out- Do We Postpone?

Kasyah, on March 20, 2020 at 11:40 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 25
9 days out from our destination wedding in Destin, FL. We are down from 45 guests to 18. Things keep changing every day. They just closed all FL beaches yesterday. Wondering if we carry on or just reschedule at this point? I have so much anxiety about all of it. I just picked up my dress today and my seamstress told me adamantly to reschedule. I'm so stressed like the rest of the brides on here. We have the tuxes already and all vendors are good to go. What would you do?

As much a I am remaining hopeful for you, some states won't even let you enter. They have set up police at the bordering roadways. At this point, I would be worried for a full on shutdown. I'd be nervous to keep it as is and have you owe vendors for food, drink etc...if they haven't shut that down yet.

You should postpone. The health of your friends and family should be the highest priority.

If it were me, I’d postpone. The CDC is currently suggesting gathering no more than 10 people and only if you can put enough distance between each of them (6ft is what is recommended). This is not the time to go against their suggestions.

I'm sorry you have to go through this. I had to postpone mt wedding as well. But it is for the best right now and you have to think about your health and your guests. My vendors were very accommodating and I hope yours can be as well. Best of luck to you.

I’m in a state where we are under shelter in place and weddings aren’t allowed. I predict most states will move towards the same in the next week. I would postpone.

I agree with everyone. Please postpone. We must take this virus seriously. You also don’t want to lose out on money if even more guests understandably cancel. Sorry you have to go through this.

I live just west of Destin, in Pensacola. Right now, our beaches are still open.

I am taking all of this seriously. My florist just said they can't cancel flower orders and there will be no refunds- that's $3500 right there... But we don't have a choice bc marriage licenses aren't being issued now so postpone it is. I'm devastated 😢

I'm so sorry that you have to go through this Smiley sad

I agree with everyone above--I'm afraid that you will have no choice but to postpone. Our country is on the verge of a full lock down right now and our only chance at beating this virus is if we listen to the CDC guidelines. I would reach out to your vendors ASAP and try to get a new date in place. Hopefully your florist will do the right thing and provide your flowers at the same cost for your new date.

I would also add that your florist is being a complete jerk! I would first see if they're willing to work with you and instead of asking for a refund, ask to simply keep your same flower order but switch to a different date. If they say no to that, then maybe it would be time to blast them on social media or something...I don't really know if that would work, but maybe worth a try.

I let them know it was unacceptable and this is out of our control. Looks like they are able to reschedule the order for a later date and I just pay a $106 difference. We were paid in full so to lose that chunk of change would of been so bad!

I’m so sorry. You’d think the florist would come up with something. It is beyond your control.
