8 hr day Vs. 10 hr day

Aundrea, on January 28, 2020 at 5:03 PM Posted in Planning 0 14
Hello! Our venue offers an 8 hr day or a 10 hr day. We are trying to save a little money by going with 8 hours but before we do I am curious to know how many hours you all reserved your venue for and how did it go/was there enough time/what did it allow you to fit in or not fit in?

We are doing 12 hours. This allows us in at noon and out by midnight.
A few photos before, and some time to make sure everything is running smoothly. Time to flip, and a 4 hour reception.

We could have done 8 hours. But it was the same rate.

We have our space for 8 hours.

We’ll get ready at my house. Arrive at the venue at 2pm and do first look and photos. Ceremony starts at 4 and reception ends at 10.
We do have a coordinator though so I won’t have to do any set-up or decor.

We have our venue space for only 7 hours, and I'm already stressing for set up time! I'd go with more time to save some stress, and if it works with your budget.

We had ours for 14 hours, because we needed to use the bridal suite earlier than that. Our wedding was 6 hours, our vendors needed 1 hour for clean up and 3 hours for set up. So we needed a minimum of 10 just for wedding & vendors.

Ours was 9 hours and it worked fine. Except we had to start professional hair and makeup at 8am to all be ready for photos to start at 2pm, so we didn’t get to use the bridal suite for getting ready... which was a bit disappointing. Had to rent a hotel room nearby for the actual hair and makeup piece and then the bridal suite was more of a changing room and green room for us to wait in until wedding time.

Wow! How many bridesmaids did you have? was their only one person doing hair and makeup for everyone?

Daughter's venue allowed us to be on-site for about 10 hours. It was a very inclusive venue that handled all set-up and clean-up outside of the time we were on-site. We arrived before 1 pm, with first look at 1:30. Wedding party photos went until 2:45 when the entire wedding party moved to what we called the "sequester room" out of view of arriving guests. The ceremony began, as scheduled, at 3:30. Cocktail hour (and more family & wedding party photos) was 4-5. The reception was 5-10 pm, with B&G (and the photographer) being the last to leave the venue around 10:20. It was their perfect day.

Four bridesmaids, two moms and myself. For the bridesmaids/moms, all but two had both hair and makeup done (the others had one service only). One makeup artist and one person for hair. The woman I hired wouldn’t bring more than one HMUA without there being more women in my party. And we had to be out of the hotel room around 1:00, so there was some wiggle room built in in case we fell behind to still be ready by around 1 and that gave us plenty to time to get to the venue nearby.

Okay. I would like to get ready at the venue. It will only be me getting hair and makeup professionally done so maybe I can have my bridesmaids ready before we arrive at the venue

Our reception venue only allows 6 hours, it would be an additional cost for each hour added. I wish it would be longer considering everyone says the day flies by so fast.
